Ivory Dress = Ivory Linens?

Hello!

I was just wondering if I need to do Ivory everything if my dress is ivory.  My skin tone looks best in ivory but overall I like the crisp, bright white look. Will my ivory dress look "dirty" if we have white table linens?  Shoudl I just do ivory?  I know this is stupid but I just want to know what everyone else thinks.

In my experience, "ivory" as it is done today, isn't really that far off of pure white.  I think you'll be just fine to have "white" linens.

I have a ivory dress & we're doing ivory linens, but our colors are ivory & brown with a fall theme, so that was the reasoning behind it.  I think you'll be just fine with white linens.  I agree with wittyschaffy, that ivory isn't going to look that different, because it's not as dark as it once was.  Also, if the room is a little dim, it might be something you don't notice at all.  I think people will just be looking at the beautiful bride, & won't be concerned if your dress & linens don't "match"!  No worries - go with white if you like that better!  = )

I have an "ivory" dress but its not true ivory its actually more white but I did pick Ivory linens, but I am the opposite of you and anti-white ;) I also LOVE color.

For you I think its fine. Like PP have said if the lights are dimmed ppl wont even notice. The only time you are going to be picture next the linens is the cake and even then ppl wont notice. IMO.

I had a true ivory dress...but the cost was ridiculous to switch from white linens to ivory, so we left them white. Didn't matter! No one could tell, plus who would really care if your linens match your dress. I understand if ivory is one of your wedding colors and would clash with your decor and if its in your budget....otherwise, save the $ and put it towards something more necessary and fun!

Yep! I'm sure it would look fine, most people won't notice the color comparison of the dress and the linens :)

I have an Ivory dress and we did Ivory linens just in case.  But with all the responses I am wondering if we should have just gone with white.  Like you, I also like the "crisp" white on linens.

I have an ivory dress and am doing ivory linens, but that is more a function of my reception venue not being "crisp white."  My linens person said to base it on the feel and look of your reception hall and on your overall color scheme at the reception.  If I were in a more contemporary reception hall, I would have been fine going the ivory dress/white linens route!  My colors of choice are pretty saturated and would probably work a bit better with crisp white than ivory, but it will probably still look fine.  I think as long as your linens are consistent all together and there aren't white tablecloths with ivory chair covers, you'll be good to go!

I don't think it matters.  You won't be taking many pictures right next to the tables.  In person, I don't think anyone will think twice about it (or even once).

+1 to this actually.  After I started second guessing our choice, I realized that the colors of the linens are going to be the last thing on my mind (and anyone else's) that day so I would try not to put too much thought in to it  :)

I'm wearing an ivory dress and we're using white tablecloths and lavender napkins.  Our colors (plum and aqua) are pretty saturated, so we want a very crisp, clean foundation to counterpoint them.  There's no rule that says your dress has to match the linens.

I think either will be fine. I agree with PP's that ivory isn't really ivory today. My dress is "ivory" but looks more white than ivory.
