The Mission Theatre

Right now i still have my wedding planned for the Mission Theatre in August. I have been in contact with Ryan and everything seems to be going well on my end. However I keep meeting with people who are telling me that he is double booking people at the Mission? Any one else heard anything like that? I don't want to give up all the money I have put down for everything at the mission, but also don't want to be bit in the butt as things get closer.
On a second note does anyone know of any locations that include everything like tables, chairs, dancefloor, table cloths for under $1000? Hopefully on the KS side of things? Also they need to accept outside catering for no additional upcharge? I guess I need to start making back up plans if things are really that bad...

I would not trust him! Im a Stowe bride and he has not even called me or other brides that booked with him to tell us that our venue is no longer. He also promised things would be fine... And they were not... Beware of what you are getting into he doesn't have a good rep.

We met with him while doing our epic venue search, but he gave off a bad vibe for us and we didn't go with him (there was also a cat that is apparently the "resident cat" there and my allergies immediately went nuts, so it wasn't for us).  We looked at Parkway West, Vox Theater, and The Pavilion -- I'm sorry, I don't remember all their prices (we looked at like 30 diff venues), but I remember them being under our budget. There is also the Ball Conference Center (I think it's what it is called) in Olathe and a place in Paola (Evergreen?), but those may be too far south for you. I didn't actually look at either of those places, but it's a start. HTH.

I was a Mission Theatre bride. I've read all of the posts here about Ryan, but honestly I didn't have any problems with him or the venue. He was there all day for my wedding, from 10am when I got there until I left at 10:30pm. He oversaw the set up and clean up, and supervised the DJ and bartender.

I think, based on what the Stowe brides have been through, you have every right to call him and have a frank discussion about what you have planned and make sure everything will be the way you want it. But from personal experience, I didn't have any problems.

Also remember that there isn't a kitchen there, and make sure your caterer knows that, too. My aunts and uncles did our food, and we had brisket, turkey, ham, salad, bread, and lots of little finger foods my aunt made, but they did all the work at home and brought it in right before the wedding.

We are supposed to be having our reception there in the fall.  Has anyone had their wedding there in the past few weeks?  Any problems?

Ryan is writing these reviews clearly!  Why else does SEWF have 2143 posts. You are a vendor if you post that much. If you are a bride/groom, you may have 250-500 posts if you ask a lot of questions.

Jack and I had nothing but issues with Ryan and the Mission Theatre experience. He promised things to us that never came about. Sent my mother an adjusted bill for services that were not performed. I should have listened to others, it is my fault for not wanting to spend a little more and have a real wedding or just saving it for a new house and getting married privately. This was a total joke. The day of our wedding the venue smelled of a bar bathroom. DJ was doing his own thing. Felt rushed to get out.  Ryan was rude and made my tear up on many occassions. I thought Jack was going to punch him. It was supposed to be our day. It was not. He also ripped off others in the Stowe Building scam.  I saw his wife on hidden camera on Fox 4 problem solvers. I was not surprised.
