Band versus DJ

Hey All! I'm torn between doing a band or a DJ. I love the big band feel and sound (Fi and I are having a traditional formal country club wedding) but a lot of our guests will be our college friends and want them to have fun as well with a DJ for popular songs. Anyone else have that dilema? How did you solve it? What did/are you pay/ing for a band? For a DJ?

    We had the same problem choosing between DJ/band (we are also having a country club wedding).  Ultimately, we decided even our guests who are older than us are there for a party so we hired a DJ.  He is going to play big band type music during dinner & cocktail hour and then kick it up once dinner is over.

    We used a DJ b/c we wanted a packed dance floor at the end of the night! I really love the BIg Band idea also, but you might not get all your guests dancing. If you have a lot of young people that like to dance, a DJ might be fun!
