Cake Bakers

So, I know I've seen some reviews for cake bakers, but I'm having a tough time coming up with a list of potential bakers to visit over the holidays. I'm having around 300 guests, so I'm trying to find a baker that doesn't charge $4 a slice! But, I obviously don't want to risk quality for price.

It was easier for me to pick my wedding dress!!! This is not what I expected!

Suggestions, anyone?

The Divine Bakery in Lee's Summit charges $3 per serving for fondant and the cakes not only look great, but taste great.  A lot of places look good but then the cake falls apart because it is dry or the premake and freeze their cakes....bleh

kisamary, is this your mom's bakery? I remember seeing a post of yours not too long ago, but maybe I'm mistaken.

Sara made our cake. They tasted so great and looked exactly the way I wanted. She is really great to work with and has some good ideas.

I second kissamary's recommendation.

We tried seven different cake bakers, including Creative Cakes by Sandy, Kristin's Cakes, Cakes by My Mom and Me, Nancy Stark, Cathy's Catering, and Just Cakes (I think that's the name of that last one).  We didn't have bad cake anywhere, it's just that after Dana's w/Divine Bakery, we couldn't choose any other.

We used Rebekah Foster who is located in downtown Shawnee. Her cakes range from $3-$4.25 - it just depends on what you're looking for. Typically if you don't want fondant that'll save you $1 a slice usually at most places. We didn't do fondant but Rebekah did a GREAT job with the buttercream on ours. We used Just Cakes in Blue Springs.  Her almond cake is fantastic!  We designed our own cake with her help, and it was $2.50/slice with filling.  Loved it, and got so many compliments.

I second Kristin Lynch with Kristin's Cakes!!  She did a fabulous job on my cake...both appearance (mine is the first cake--brown and pink one--in her wedding gallery) and taste!  We were told by so many guests that it was the best wedding cake ever to be had!  She's awesome--my favorite vendory by far!!

yup it is :)  I personally don't like cake, but I really like hers, and not because she's my mom lol.  She is really wanting to do more wedding cakes because she has the skills and the ideas and she just plain loves making people cakes that they love

We are using Patrick Snuffer (816.452.7590) he bakes out of his house... But his cakes are DELICIOUS!!! Much better than any of the other cakes I tasted at the bridal shows! And I am an icing kinda girl, and I wanted to ask for a bowl of icing to go! His price per serving is $2.00... You should give him a call you can tell him another bride referred you, Shari Snowden.  Good Luck!
