The Elms Resort Venue

I am thinking of booking the Elms for my reception next September.  I think the outdoor gazebo would be beautiful for our wedding, but I am so nervous about it raining and I don't need that extra stress.  They have two reception rooms one is beautiful with fireplace and outdoor space the other one I did not like as well -it is just a basic "hotel space".  Has anyone had a wedding here? How did you like it.  We are thinking of minimizing our guest list from 220 to 150 so everyone could fit under the gazebo in case of rain. I really do not want my wedding in the same room as reception.. Thanks for your input.

I am also having my wedding at the elms in august of this year. It's soo beautiful! We chose not to have ours in the gazebo for rain reasons as well as heat. We are actually having the ceremony at the small stone church across the street(it's super cute and has a red door!) . We're going to have to squeeze people (we're having about 150 and that's about the max what the church will hold) and then we're having the reception in the smaller room at the Elms. I didn't like the big ballroom either, i thought the other one had a lot more character. She had told us that an option was to do the ceremony in the big ballroom and then the reception in the other room. Maybe the ballroom could be used as a plan B if it rains? Just some suggestions!

That's where I am getting married too!  I just wish the small pretty ballroom wasn't pink.  Maybe they'll paint it before my wedding in 2012 :)

I'm getting married there in oct.  We are getting married in the gazebo and then the reception in the small room.  The back up plan is to get married in our room.

    The food there is awesome.

That is exactly what I am planning on doing.  We are trying to minimize our guest list to 150 in the chance of rain.  We have not tried the food yet.  Did you get to have a "tasting"?  I am sure October will be beautiful outside. Congrats!!!

And Kissamary....we did not like the pink either. Trying to come up with a creative way to cover those windows with some pretty fabric or something (but that gets expensive). That is the only thing I did not like about that room but if you have it dim enough I am sure nobody will notice ;)

We are thinking about uplighting.  If you put a yellow light on it the pink should look more amber toned which will fit in our color scheme better.  there are also a few eyesores in the gazebo that we are planning on making big panel drapes to cover.
FYI the chair covers they were setting up in the gazebo were disgusting!  They were dirty, ripped, and a bunch of different styles.  We are just going to buy some for cheap and sell them afterward.

oh, good to know kissamary.  I haven't had my details meeting  yet as i'm an OOT bride.  In the packet that they sent me there looks like there was some sort of option for uplighting.

I don't mind the color of the room so much, but the balances...

Where are you putting ur dance floor kissamary?

yeah, the valances are bad.  maybe they'll change  *crosses fingers*, but if not we might find money somewhere in the budget to drape them... maybe we can recycle the drapes from the ceremony.  we are also making slip covers for those ugly benches and moving them outside for the cocktail hour.

we are putting the dance floor in front of the fire place.  we don't anticipate having a lot of big time dancers, so it should be fine.
