Seamtress Rave!

I will probably re-post this again after the wedding when I plan to review ALL my vendors, but I just had to rave about my seamstress!

I originally went to a lady who works out of her home. She was very sweet, and we worked out the bustle on my complicated dress. However, she didn't even want to touch taking my dress in; she sort of dodged around it. When I called her a few weeks before the wedding to tell her my dress was way too big (I'd lost 7lbs, gained back 2, but it was still really loose), she didn't want to take it on. I guess power to her for not biting off more than she could chew, but at the same time it left me in a bind.

So I called Maria's Alterations on Metcalf in OP (near Fox & Hound). Maria had me come in that very day, and my dress was ready within a week!! It fits beautifully and I'm so much more happy with the fit than I was before. She did have to move the ruffle (which was the complicated part) but was still able to get it done. I'm so happy to have found her and grateful for her being able to get it done so quickly and with such care. I definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a place for alterations for their dress.

I was thinking of going here because I live like 2 minutes away from the shop.  I will have to give her a call now that I know she does great work!

She originall was going to charge me $50 to take it in, but it ended up being $75 because it was more complicated (she had to completely remove and move the ruffle because of the way it was constructed). So, less than DB for sure. I felt like it was a reasonable price to pay for the work.

Thanks for the info!! I don't know the "normal" price to get altertaions but that sounds pretty resonable...and YES a lot cheaper than DB :) How many months away are you supposed to get your altered?

I think you're supposed to start alterations the month before or so? I don't know. I think I started the bustle two months before, and then she didn't want to take it in any like I said in the OP. So by the time I actually got it to Maria's, it was about two weeks before the wedding.
