Hi, I am looking for a good affordable alterations person. I have an appointment for the Gown Gallery where I got my dress, but I know that my simple alterations are going to cost a fortune there. Does anyone know someone in the KC area with lots of experience and affordable prices? My dress has a draped skirt so it could be slightly tricky if anything needs to be taken in...

    I've heard great things about Satin Stitches in Smithville, MO but I have not been there.

    i had my dress done at satin stitches in smithville.  She was great.  I didn't have it taken in though so i can't testify to that.  I only had a bustle.  But she was quick and affordable compared to some prices i was quoted.  She also took some time to teach us how to properly lace up my dress which was awesome b/c we had been doing it wrong.   I paid 45 for a 6 point bustle.  I love my bustle.  Here are some pics of it.

    I haven't gotten my dress, but for a wedding i was in this summer, i had my bridesmaid dress altered at Maria's in OP, off Metcalf near 103rd. She was recommended to me by a friend who had her wedding dress done there, and she did a great job on my dress- i had lost so much weight my dress had to be taken in about 3 sizes, and she did an amazing job, and it was only $40 for everything.
