Are you flexible with the day of your wedding? I am having mine on a Sunday and that was able to bring the cost down below $2000. I was in the same boat as you except my guest list is smaller. One venue I did look at (but decided on another one) was Studio 2131. They quoted me $1600 for a Saturday or Sunday. That price includes tables and chairs They can seat 150 people. Other than that I don't have much to offer. My venue had a %20 discount going on (that's why I was able to afford it) but I think that ended after the new year. Perhaps some other knotties can give you some great options. :)

Where are you wanting to have it exactly?  Ours is in Shawnee, KS at Parkway West.  I believe it was $1000ish for a Saturday night.  It can fit up to 200ish.  It's kinda hidden, but really pretty and cheap! Hope ths helps!!

    Howdy!!

I am getting married at the historic Elms Resort and Spa in Excelsior Springs. I walked into this place and wanted to cry because it was so beautiful! The coordinators there are fabulous and were willing to work with every little detail I wanted to make sure I'm getting everything I want. The cost is $5,000 - but that includes the room (for both ceremony and reception), chairs, linens, tables, chair covers, centerpieces (mirror tile, hurricanes and votives), food, drinks and a free night at the place. I orignially looked at venues that seemed reasonably priced, but after a cheap dinner and no drinks it still ended adding up to over $6,000. We're having it on a Friday. This discounted rate is good Nov-Apr. Good luck and happy hunting!!!

    P.S.

The price I gave you also includes some decor (tulle and lights), specialty lighting in color to match wedding colors and day-of coordinator. I'm so looking forward to working with Amanda :) Again, good luck!!

My reception hall is more than reasonable, Chapel Ridge Banquet Center in Lee's Summit, MO. Saturday weddings will cost $1600 plus a mandatory $400 beverage purchse (which still fits your $2000 budget), but Fridays are only about $950 plus $400 minimum bev purchase, and any other day starts at $350 for 3 hours and $75 for each additional hour, with no mandatory minimum beverage purchase. They give you the hall for the entire day to decorate and clean up afterwards, and if there's no event booked the day before yours then you can go in the day before for decorating as well (for free). They set up the tables, chairs, linens, dance floor, etc. for you. You're responsible for taking your belongings with you at the end of the night, and taking out all the trash, but that's about it. They are more than capable of accomodating a group of 150, the manager told me they squeezed in 250 at one point, and they also have an outdoor deck that people can go out to as well. Here's a link for you: http://www.chapelridgebanquetcenter.com/

    Good luck! :D

teamdymite.  I wanted to give you a word of caution.  I had my october wedding at the elms, and i would not recommend them.  When i worked with them Lacee and Amanda where coordinators.  All i can say is it seems like none of them talk.  Things that lacee told us they would do amanda said they wouldn't.  If we changed the layout with one of them, the other one would assume we didn't.  It was a lot of back and forth where it didn't need to be.

The day of my wedding, they didn't set up enough tables in the venue, and set them up wrong.  They claimed this was because their computer crashed and were working from 'memory' but the final contract with how we wanted things was on paper.

They also set up the tables wrong.  There were no bread plate, water glasses, or ice tea on the tables and guest had to get up to get them, even though in the contract it say that they would be present.  Right before we opened the door a server came up to me and asked when to serve the salads.  As i was eating dinner, another server came up to me and told me that they didn't have enough food.  At that point i diverted her to my dad.  These are not questions you ask the bride.

Overall my wedding was wonderful, but it was inspite of the service we got there not because of it.  I know i'm not the only one that had issues with them.  There was another october bride with similar issues.

We are using the Sylvester Powell Jr. Community Center in Mission KS. They offer booking by the hour, or a wedding package (around 1900ish) that includes linens and other add on. There are no restrictions on catering or beverages.
