Parkway West-thoughts?

Does anyone know anything about Parkway West in Shawnee? Their web site is very vague when it comes to details and prices.

    We are having our reception there.  We were originally having our wedding this October 2, but are expecting so we changed our date to March 26, 2011 and they were very easy to work with on that. It is the cheapest venue we could fine that matched what we were looking for. It is much prettier in person! They painted the ceilings all black and it gives it a real romantic feel (the pics are old on the website).  You can bring in your own caterer (we are using Hy-Vee and they have worked with them numerous times so I feel it will go smoothly), there drink options are great prices (I will find the sheet and attach it), they have a dj you can use that they say is really good, but my FI family has a tradition thtat they have the same dj play at all the weddings cause he is so good, so they took off so much for not using their dj (there dj is a really good deal though!) It is perfect for a wedding no larger than 200. The bathrooms are really nice too! :) What else do you want to know?

    Please obtain quote for multiple weekday morning/afternoon events or events that will include in-house catering.

     

    Rental price includes the following: facility with seating capacity of 200 - 250, table(s) for wedding party, gift table, cake table, buffet table(s), white linens and skirts for the head table(s), gift table, cake table and buffet table(s), fichus trees with white lights, 23’x25’ dance floor, outdoor patio with tables, chairs & a fountain, on-site parking, separate bar area and bridal changing room. We will set up tables/chairs, linens and skirts one time.

     An additional charge of $25.00 per guest table will apply to all rentals.

    This price includes the following: 60” round table, 8 padded banquet chairs, 85”x 85” white, ivory or black table cloth, 8 white, ivory or your choice of colored cloth napkins, and a 12”x12” beveled mirror tile. We will set up tables, chairs, and linens to your specification, one time.

     An additional charge of $10.00 per table will apply to tables set up in the bar/side area.

    This price includes a 32” round bar height table, 120” round white or ivory linen and a 54”x54” color linen overlay.

     

    All event room rental rates are for a period of five hours. This includes clean up time at the end of the event.  Each rental rate includes an additional two-hour decorating period. This can be scheduled the day before the event as long as there is not a conflict with another event that day.  In that case every effort will be made to allow the customer to decorate as early as possible the day of the event.  Parkway West can be opened two hours before the event start time for outside vendors of the client to set up, such as the wedding cake or deliveries such as the florist.  Clean up must be completed, to the specifications of your banquet captain, by the end of the five-hour event period.  Any event extending beyond the contracted five-hour period will be charged $250.00 per hour with a minimum charge of one hour.

     Beverage & Bar Service

    Parkway West is able to provide both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Parkway West is licensed and insured by the State and must comply with State Liquor Laws. Alcoholic beverages may not be brought into, served by, or leave with the patrons of Parkway West.

     

    In our main dinning room we provide a self-service soft drink fountain serving Coca Cola products that now includes Nestea iced tea that your guests may utilize on an unlimited basis during your event.  We also provide self-service pitchers of ice water for your guests.  As always, the cups and ice are provided at no additional charge.  The following charges apply for this service:

     

                        1-100 guests        $ 75.00

                    101-150 guests        $100.00

                    151-200 guests        $150.00

                   201 guests or more $200.00

    Coffee, condiments and Styrofoam cups may be provided to your guests at the following costs.

                    1-100 guests         $ 50.00

                    101-200 guests     $ 75.00

                    201-275 guests     $100.00

     

    If bar service is requested the following costs may apply, depending on the type of service requested. Bar packages may be modified to your particular event, please ask the Facility Manager for special prices.

                    Bartender              $100.00 for 5 hours service ($25.00 ea. Additional hour)

                    Cash Bar               Your guests pay for their alcohol for the entire time of the event.

                                                    $2.00 draft beer, $3.00 bottled beer, shots & house wine, $4.00 bottled import beer &

                                                mixed drinks, $6.00 Martinis and $8.00 for doubles.

                    Open Bar               Paid per person based on guest count, includes mixed drinks, house wine, & keg beer

                                                    1 hour-$7.50, 2 hours - $10.50, 3 hours - $11.50, 4 hours - $13.50, 5 hours - $15.00

                    Domestic Keg       $240.00 (1/2 barrel – serves 160 glasses) select from any: Budweiser, Miller or Coors

                                                product.   Boulevard – Pale Ale and Wheat Brews are also now available for $360.00 per

                                                keg.  Some Import beers are available by the keg…please ask for pricing.

                    House Wine          $60.00 (serves 30 - 40 glasses) select from: Chardonnay, White Zinfandel, or Merlot

                  Champagne            $15.00 per bottle Champagne flutes ($2.00) and traditional champagne glasses (1.00) are

    available as rental items.  Plastic cups and ice provided at no extra charge.  

     DJ Service$595.00 for 5 hours of event time. Consultation with your DJ is available before your event. We have our own equipment, a full set up with lights, disco ball, mirror ball, fog machine, etc. Overtime charges are $100.00 per hour.  An additional tear down charge of $100.00 will be assessed if a DJ service other than the one contracted by Parkway West.  This tear down charge is for the removal and re-set of our sound and light equipment. Kitchen Usage

    Parkway West has a full commercial kitchen facility.  There is no additional charge for any approved outside caterer (any caterer selected outside the Parkway West caterer) to use the kitchen to store and serve pre-prepared food. If the caterer needs to use the kitchen for any type of food preparation, then a minimum charge of $250.00 will apply. An outside caterer will be approved if they are licensed and insured.  The outside caterer must be on-site for the duration of the catering.  Kitchen must be cleaned, all trash removed and deposited in on-site dumpster to the specifications of your banquet captain before the security deposit is returned to the client.

     Catering Service

    The base cost of our on-site catering is a per person charge of $12.00 - $14.00.  Price includes plastic plates/flatware for the buffet table.  

     

    $12.00 per person is considered heavy hor d’ouerves, with a menu consisting of: cocktail sandwiches (ham, roast beef & turkey) with condiments, 1 hot appetizer such as meatballs, queso, spinach artichoke dip or wings, gourmet display of import and domestic cheeses, in season fresh fruit and crackers, assorted vegetables and dip and a side salad such as potato salad, cole slaw, pasta salad or tossed salad if you chose.

     

    $13.00 per person is one entrée, two sides, tossed or Caesar salad and rolls with butter.  The selections are below.

    MEATS AND PASTA: 4 Meat and Cheese Lasagna, Grilled Chicken Fettuccine Alf redo, Penne Pasta Lemonatta with Grilled Chicken and Mushrooms, Roast Beef Au jus, Bar-B-Que Brisket, Chicken Breasts in a Mornay Wine Sauce, Herb Roasted Chicken, French Onion Chicken, BBQ Chicken, Fried Chicken, Roasted Pork Loin with Demi-glaze, Stuffed Roast of Pork Loin, Chicken Salad on Croissants, Dinner Sliced Ham or Smoked Turkey Breast, Oven Roasted Turkey and Gravy,

     

    POTATO, PASTA & RICE DISHES: Hash Brown Potato Casserole, Au Gratin Potatoes, Parsley New Potatoes, Herb-roasted potatoes, Garlic/Herb Mashed Potatoes, Cheddar/Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Wild Rice, Rice Pilaf, Macaroni and Cheese, Parsley Buttered Noodles, Citrus Orzo, Potato Salad, Waldorf Salad, Cole Slaw, Pasta Salad

     

    VEGETABLE DISHES: Green Beans with Almonds, Green Beans with Bacon and Red Onions, Buttered Corn, Green Bean Casserole, Steamed Mixed Vegetables, Baked Beans, Sugar Snap Peas with Red Peppers, Corn on the Cob, Roasted Vegetable medley.

     

    SALADS: Tossed Salad with your choice of 2 Dressings or Caesar Salad

     

    These are only the most basic suggestions for a reception buffet.  Our caterer is able to develop and create most any menu that you can imagine and at a very reasonable price.  A few suggestions might be… light hor d’ouerves, heavy hor d’ouerves, sit down dinner, a themed dinner such as Italian or a Fiesta, maybe you only want a dessert buffet, no problem or how about a whole roast pig??  Let’s fire up the grill and cook right on site – steaks, chicken breasts, hot dogs and hamburgers with all the fixins!  Is it a morning affair…. how about an interactive, cooked on site, Omelet Bar or a lovely continental breakfast?  We are only limited by your imagination! 

     

    Rental glassware, flatware, china and additional labor charge

    In-house rental items are available at the charge of $.25 for each glass piece or piece of flatware, and .40 for each piece of Parkway West China.  Pieces available for rent include; 9” clear glass or china plate, 7” clear glass or china plate, china salad/soup bowl, glass beverage goblet, china coffee cup/saucer, salad fork, dinner fork, dinner knife, and teaspoon. With any of the above food service rental items there will also be an additional labor charge starting at $250.00, Parkway West will then provide the appropriate number of employees to set tables, clear tables during your event, and wash / dry dishes. 

     Smoking

    Smoking is permitted on the outside patio on the north side of the building. There is NO smoking allowed inside the facility.

     Service Charge

    There will be an 18% service charge and all applicable local and state sales taxes (7.75%) added on all rentals, food and beverages.  This will be due when final payment is made.

    Billing

    A non-refundable rental deposit of  $500.00 and a signed invoice/contract are required to secure a specific date. Final payment is due ten (10) working days before the event date. All charges will be based upon the guarantee or actual attendance whichever is greater. Billing adjustments will be made at the time of the event and payment rendered upon demand.  Corporate accounts may make credit arrangements prior to the function. A finance charge will apply to all overdue accounts. A $30.00 fee will apply to all returned checks. 

     

    A security deposit of $500.00 or Credit Card number will be held (as separate form of payment) in addition to the rental deposit. This is returned to the client when the event is concluded as long as no additional charges have been incurred in the course of the rental.  ** This is a discretionary deposit charge and decision made by the facility manager.

     Decorations and Additional Items

    Parkway West has a collection of centerpiece hurricanes and petal bowls available for rent. Please ask the Facility Manager to see them. The uses of decorative sprinkles, confetti, birdseed (inside), glitter, sunflower seeds or other like items are prohibited.  All flames, such as candles must be enclosed in some type of “hurricane” type globe.   An additional clean up charge of $250.00 will apply if the above items are used on the facility property.

    Most other decorations are allowed as long as they do not damage the facility or properties of the facility. To prevent last minute complications please have the facility Manager approve all decorations before purchasing them.

     If any additional wedding or party items are needed for your event please see the facility manager. Items not offered by Parkway West can be rented from Arrow Party Rental at a 15% discount.     Thanks for the great info! This place is reasonable in price. We're having less than 100 guests on a Saturday, but maybe they would be flexible. I really appreciate the info!

    Thanks for posting this! We currently have the barn at Alexander Majors House booked for our reception, but I can't stop worrying about trying to get it decorated before the wedding and then getting it cleaned up after the reception, and I don't think there is enough room in it to have a dance floor. This sounds like a great alternative (price wise) and looks like a beautiful site.
