Alterations and Bustling

For those of you who have purchased your dress, are you going to get your bustling and alterations done at the bridal salon? I'm not sure what a good price is, and a couple months ago when we ordered my dress the salon told me how much each bustle was and I kind of freaked out. Something tells me that my dress might require a bunch of bustles b/c of the cut and my pickyness (I don't want it to look like a seashell). I realize I am totally putting the cart before the horse on this one b/c I haven't had my first fitting yet, but where is everyone having their alterations done?

I need to start looking into this too. I have always heard that you should not have your dress altered where you bought it. There is a place in Smithville, MO called Satin Stitches that I have heard wonderful things about, and I think her prices are listed on her website. I have also heard good things about a few others in Johnson County.

I've heard the same thing.....that dress shops are more expensive.  I'm going to look into a couple of independent places in the area.

I have heard good things about Maria's Tailoring and Alterations near 103rd and Metcalf. I actually have my first fitting with her in two weeks.

I have heard her prices are extremely reasonable and she does nice work.

    Her number is (913) 341. 1813

I went to Nordstrom's and they did my bustle, hem, took in an inch on each side, shortened the straps and took in the cups for 150. I worked with Lana and she did a great job! HTH

rknox88- no I didn't buy it from there. If you are interested in going there make sure you work with Lana.
