We are getting married and holding the reception at the River Market Event Place.  It's a brand new venue in City Market and it's that lofty feel that you are looking for.  If you book before Dec 31, you get a 20% discount.  I would check it out--we love the space and it's big enough to flip without complication for the reception.

Depends on how many people you have.  I belive a couple people here have used Club 1000 or the Berg Event Space and had good reviews.

I'm also getting married at the River Market Event Place. I really liked the space in person and the discount doesn't hurt either! There is also the Arts Incubator or Studio 2131. You could even check into the Boulevard Brewery. I have friends getting married there next fall and they have a pretty great event space for rent with amazing sky line views.  Another great venue is The Hobbs Building in the west bottoms. I went to a Wedding there last year and it was really beautiful. Their on site catering is probably the BEST wedding food I've ever had.

We're having our reception at the Berg, but we also looked at Studio B, Third Eye, 1617 Event Space, and The Cashew (and pretty much every other one people have mentioned lol), all lofts. I am probably not remembering all of them because we went to so many dang spaces... Almost any space is willing to have both your ceremony and reception, but it depends a lot on how many guests you have and how you want the transition to go.

We are getting married at and doing the reception at the Arts Incubator. Our caterer is managing the flip during a cocktail hour.

I as well am having both at the arts incubator in the crossroads district. It is great because it is a non profit and you get the place for 24 hours.  Miss Tst- You said your catering people are doing the flip and your having a happy hour... where are you doing your happy hour? I am in a delima with not knowing what to have my guess do the hour and half between events while we are taking pictures.

Out of curiousity, does the River Market Event Space allow outside caterers and alcohol?  Thanks!

Yes, the River Market venue does allow outside catering and alcohol. You just need to make sure you have a MO licensed bartender for the night. Everything about the venue is pretty flexible.

I've been to a wedding/reception at the Art Incubator, the Berg, and also Club 1000, and they were all great, with gorgeous views!

We were married at Club 1000 this past October and did the ceremony and reception in the same room (the Penthouse). We had about 50 guests attend and it was perfect! The flip of the room from ceremony to reception was seamless. Best part - decor did double duty for ceremony and reception so we saved on that.

I think with anything more than 75 it would start to have been cramped for that scenario. But Club 1000 also has multiple floors, so you can do it all in the same building but not necessarily the same room.

We are having our reception at the Stowe Event Space in the West Bottoms.  Our reception is on the 9th floor that also has rooftop capability for a ceremony.  It's fairly inexpensive and includes a lot of extras.  Just from working with them for the short amount of time I have, I would definitely recommend them.  stoweeventskc.com
