Judge for Officiant

Does anyone know if it is possible to have a Judge in Kansas City marry my fiance and I? I called the KC Courthouse and the front desk lady was very rude and told me she was very busy and hung up on me.  Laughing  It sounds like she was having just one of those days.

If it is possible does anyone know how to go about setting this up?

Thanks so much!

I'm not sure if you're in Kansas or Missouri, but in Jackson county, you can get married by a judge in the courthouse on Friday mornings, or you can marry with a member of the clergy in the Truman Memorial Building on Friday or Saturday afternoon.

    Good luck!

I know judges do marry people, but I don't think they travel outside the courthouse to do so. It really depends on the county, and maybe the judge.  I would go online to get the number for a judge's clerk that is close to you and leave them a message letting them know you are interested and do not know the procedure.  You may check the courthouse website to see if there is any info on that before you call.

I'm not entirely sure, but I do think that judges can officiate outside the courthouse if you find one willing to do so. A family friend is a judge (not in Jackson County) and I'm pretty certain he officiated a wedding in Kansas City (Missouri side) for a person from my hometown. I think it is possible.

I believe a judge can officiate if they are willing. We have a family member who is an attorney who will be officiatng our ceremony, and he is going to be sworn in as a Justice of the Peace before our ceremony (and he lives outside the county we're getting married in). I think it's definately worth a shot.

I know in Johnson County KS (at least a few years ago) some judges would travel to marry people, but they would charge more than the normal fee to do so.
