My FI and I have been looking into possible wedding locations since our original venue (the Arts Incubator) closed down. Originally we wanted to have our wedding July 1st, 2012 (Sunday), and have an afternoon wedding. Now we're thinking of doing a Saturday evening in June and having it at Shawnee Mission Park, or another park like it.
Obviously there are bugs and heat to compete with, but has anyone been to or had a successful park wedding? I have never been to one, so I'm not sure how it would be. I just can't get over the fact that it would cost us $145 to rent the space for 14 hours! That's so much cheaper than anywhere else we could get, and it's not a bad landscape.
Thoughts?
