April 2013 Weddings

weather for the big day

welp! Looks like we are getting more snow here in CT, and they said that even though spring starts this week it is "delayed" for about two weeks because of a cold front. So the nice green land and warm weather we had this time last year will not be happening and FI and I will most likely be having our ceremony inside. We visited our venue last year on April 5 and it was sooo green and looked beautiful. Can't say it will look like that this year. We will see what temps look like the week of the wedding.

Re: weather for the big day

  • Ugh! Weather is so unpredictable. We want to take pictures outside in one of our parks here, but the park is in a natural flooding area and if there is rain we are screwed. It sucks having to come up with backup plans because of the dumb weather lol. It was hard enough deciding on the first location!

  • Hey ladies,

It's still a bit far out to predict the precipitation for your big days :-)  Temperatures are somewhat predictable two weeks out but precip can change a lot.  Check it out again in a week and a half and it's likely to be more accurate.  I don't blame you for coming up with a back up plan, just in case, though :-)

    Good luck!!
  • haha I know :) Its just that last year this time of year the weather was gorg and the ground was green and trees were green! With the cold front coming in and staying for the next two weeks spring is really delayed here in New England and I doubt we would have anything turn green the first week of April. I am trying to be hopeful though!

  • I'm totally with you, Christine!  We are getting married April 6 in the suburbs outside Boston.  My birthday is April 14 and it has been 70-80 the past two years!  FI and I were talking about it yesterday and both agree that we can brave the cold, but that having the snow gone for good would be wonderful!  We chose our venue partially for the gorgeous grounds and I am determined to take pictures outside (with my sleeveless dress!).

  • I'm in somewhat the same boat. We don't have anything officially planned outside but one of the big draws for our venue was being able to take pictures on the beautiful grounds. I wasn't holding my breath that it would be 70 degrees on the day (like it was last year when we visited!) but I was hoping the weather would be looking more promising than this. I'm just hoping it isn't raining mainly...I can brave the cold if it's just chilly!
  • FL weather is unpredictable, especially this year. Typically April is a dry month but, again, it has been a weird dry season this year with us getting more rain than usual. My wedding/reception is all outside so I'm a little bit worried. Won't know until that week what the weather should be like.
  • North Carolina weather is always unpredictable.  Average temps are in the 70s but we're prepared for anything.  We have a tent ordered and we can add heaters if needed.

FI is a pilot but went to school for meteorology so we should be pretty confident about three days out about the weather.  I told him it's all his fault if it turns horrible because he(we) works for NOAA and he creates the weather, right??  Hehehe.  It would be lovely to be able to save money on the tent and lighting for it but I have a feeling we'll just stick with the tent regardless of clear skies.
  • That sucks! That's why I planned everything indoors. Even though I'm in northern CA and the weather is really good most of the year, I just didn't want to take the chance. Hopefully it will be sunny so we can get some good pictures outside! Good luck with your snowstorm though!! You never know, it could clear up and be sunny, just maybe cold!

  • I am in the same boat as you Orange.  I booked everything inside because even though chances are the weather will be nice in Phoenix, it could easily be 110 degrees on April 18th.  It should be about 90 degrees, but you never know.  Also, it likes to rain on special days for me and then never again for months and months!  Good luck with the weather girls, some of the most beautiful pictures I have seen have snow or dark clouds in the background.  Your weddings will be beautiful no matter what the weather is like!

  • Everything is indoors for us, but we really hope to be able to take some pictures outside at some point; lately I've been worrying that it's going to be freezing cold and terrible! It snowed today, and twice last week (only about an inch each time, but that hasn't happened here in March for the past 5 years we've lived here!)
