So our venue messed up and booked someone else on our day. We had moved it up from July because I'm pregnant and I didn't send the final go ahead until last night. You think they would have penciled us in at least so that they could check with us first right? I know, I know they only care about making more money. Anyways the other option is the 21st which is exactly one week before my birthday. Am I the only one that thinks its weird to get married so close to your birthday?

My MIL's birthday is the day before her anniversary if it makes you feel any better.  I would be angry too but at least they did have a date open.

FI and I are getting married the day before he turns 30.  It's kind of a joke between us because he always envisioned getting married before he turns 30 so ta-da!  There are a few other reasons we chose this: my parents' rental home will be the venue so we didn't want to hold the wedding during the busy rental season and have them lose money, he won't forget the anniversary this way, and we wanted to have the wedding before the ship/aviation field season gets into full swing so some of our service friends(including members of the wedding party) can attend.

Can you change venues?  I know that sounds like a stressful idea but maybe you can score a good deal from someone cancelling recently.  Last year, one of my best friends found out she was pregnant and had to start planning her April wedding in January.  They got a killer deal on a beach hotel because another couple had cancelled.  It might be worth calling around.

A good friend of mine just set his wedding for the week after his birthday. So... I don't know, I don't think it's that weird. I'm sorry you didn't get the date you wanted though!!

We are getting married a week before FI's 30th.  He's wasn't thrilled about it being so close, but he gets to spend his bday in Hawaii so he got over it

We are getting married the day after my birthday (bday is April 5th and wedding is April 6th). I don't really think it matters to be honest. That sucks about the venue, but don't let it ruin everything for you guys, just try and work around the stumbling block. Good luck!

I'd be SO mad about the venue, but you're right - all they care about is who gets the money and the contract in their hands first.  That wouldn't stop me from leaving honest reviews on various wedding websites, though. 

I don't think it's weird to have your wedding and a birthday close to each other.  My friend got married the day before her hubby's birthday.  Fi's birthday is 3 days after mine and we seriously considered getting married on one of the 2 free days in between. 

Plus, if you're taking a honeymoon, you would get to celebrate your birthday somewhere besides your home town - which would be awesome, since birthday celebrations for you and your FI are going to be VERY different once the baby comes.  You'll either end up spending them at a restaurant that has coloring books, or you'll have to shell out an arm and a leg for a babysitter.

My wedding is 2 weeks before my birthday. My best friend's was like 3 days before hers. So, no biggie. If you are worried about combined celebrating- just make sure you always make it two separate days

THat sucks they did that though, at least they have one day open that you can take!

Ok everyone I think we will be ok! They offered us the day before the date we wanted which is a Saturday. Normally Saturdays have a extra charge but they won't be charging us. As long as that stays true than we should be ok!

Omg the same thing happened to us!!! Our wedding is April 6 but our reception venue booked us by accident for April 20....which is my bday! Our ballroom was already booked so they fixed everything by giving us the larger ballroom, free uplifting and an extra hour just to be able to get married as planned on the 6th. I didn't want to get married ON my bday...so thankful everything worked out.

My birthday is April 26th and I am getting married the 13th! So I don't think it is a big deal at all. There are a zillion April birthdays in my family too lol.

YAY for everything working out!  Now make sure they put the "extras" they promised into your contract and get over there with the signed contract & deposit before they mess it up again.

I'm getting married on 4/20 and my 32nd bday is 4/28. It never occured to me as being odd to get married so close to my birthday. I think it is totally fine.

Agree with PPs that it is totally fine!  We are getting married 4/6 and my birthday is 4/14.  It just worked out that way since we wanted to save money and do it off season, but it was also important to us to have it in the Catholic church and they will not do it during Lent, so April was really the only possibility.  I just made it really clear that I expect flowers on BOTH days for all the future years to come

My wedding is close to my birthday too. I just made it clear that I expect a gift for each, every year. It's kind of a joke but kind of not. Yep, I get to be a spoiled brat sometimes.
