So even though I wanted to get started on looking for a venue and wedding planning stuff back in March, we didn't really get going until after Easter. This is mostly because Fi had a business trip, and I didn't want to get started without him. So the first week we went to a place that turned out to be WAY out of budget. Last week we saw a place that was out of budget, but not as much so. Tomorrow we are going to look at a more DIY type location, which, dependant on catering costs, could actually be in budget. But it took so long for the 3rd place to get back to me, I was getting really frustrated. So, they got back to me yesterday, after a week and a half, and we set up an appointment, and I got e-mail from them last night. And the place from last week is working on a quote for me. I was supposed to have that on Tuesday, but evidently a lot of the things we wanted to do, which it looked like were fairly normal from the info packet, were totally out of the ordinary, and have never been done...We make people think outside the box

I also sent out for a rental quote, since we would need tables, chairs, linens, tableware,...for the DIY place, and a request for a catering quote as well. Hopefully we'll be able to choose a place withing the next week or so, and set a real date.

Last night we got our last box of invites from JoAnn, we just need our programs, place cards, and STDs. We will probably do a lot fewer save the dates than invites, and mostly for OOT guests like his family who live out of state. I love feeling like I'm moving forward, and not just running on a hampster wheel.
