Dropping a few lbs.

I am determined to go down the aisle at 130 lbs. I am 139 today and have two weeks exactly. Any ideas how to get this 10 lbs off??? I have been walking an hour and a half every day and came down from 160. I am much happier with my weight but this last ten seems a little stubborn.

Re: Dropping a few lbs.

  • Hmm I have been trying to lose 7 for months! 1200 to 1500 calories a day and working out is not helping. I am more toned though. For me, I think it's bloat so I am going gluten and dairy free since I am sensitive though not allergic to both. I always feel better and lose weight when I eat this way. You can try that or low carb works in a pinch. Congrats on your weight loss! Thats great!

  • Wow, you have done a great job so far! For these last few pounds, I would step up your walking a notch. If you're on a treadmill, maybe do more of an incline. If you're outside maybe do a jog for 30 seconds to 1 minute every 5 minutes of your walk - when my mom walks, she will try and lift weights at the same time too! Good luck!!

  • You can't safely lose 9 lbs in two weeks. 4 lbs is about all you can do (they say 1-2 lbs per week is best). If you don't want to do it safely, there are all kinds of crazy things people do, but your body will be eating muscle to try to survive, and it will come back on as soon as you begin eating normally again.

And what if your dress doesn't fit?

  • I agree with von. Losing that much weight in 2 weeks is pretty dangerous. You really shouldn't lose more than 2 pounds a week and you're talking about over double that. You can definitely mess up your system that way.

Do you use myfitnesspal? It's really awesome. It helps you count calories and helps you adjust for exercise so you don't go too low. If you don't use it, maybe try signing up for that (there's an app for smart phones but it's also online). You can put your limit at 1200 (which is the lowest you should healthily do) and go from there!
  • I agree with both Vons. You can't safely, or healthily lose 9 lbs in 2 weeks. That is really bad for your body. Plus, your dress may not fit. And really- if you have to be a certain weight to be happy on your wedding day.. that's not good. You'll look beautiful no matter what and the weight loss you've already accomplished is amazing!!
