April 2013 Weddings

Short or Long?

Hello!
Ok, so I need opinions on either short or long bridesmaid's dresses. We are getting married April 14th at 4:30pm, it is a outdoor venue in NC. Thank you.

Re: Short or Long?

  • It really depends on the feel of your wedding and the look you are going for.  Our ceremony is more formal and a Friday evening so I went with long dresses.  Also, here it may still be chilly out.  I have always worn short dresses in weddings I have been in.  One of the three was outside. HTH

  • Whichever you like! Its spring, so my bridesmaids thought short might be nice, but one wants long. Decisions decisions!

  • If it's cold there at that time of year, maybe long- help keep them warmer, and if it's windy- they don't have to worry about their skirts blowing up! But really- it's all up to what you like!

  • Thank you everyone! The weather here is crazy so its kinda mild. I mean I have a heavier bridesmaid who prefers the longer dress. But I have smaller ones who prefer the short. So complicated haha
  • Where in NC?  I'm doing short dresses at Lake Gaston on 4/27/13 :-)
  • Huntersville NC :)

  • I'm doing short dresses in Ontario... so could be cold end of April.  I picked short since my girls preferred and I would like them to be comfortable.  Never thought of wind though... yikes that could be trouble.  My dresses are satin so a bit heavier for colder weather and I am gifting them a matching pashmina for their shouders (or blanket! hehehe).
  • I'm in NY and my wedding is 4/13.  I always thought I wanted long dresses... but we're going w/ bright yellow.  I think long and yellow is too much (if yellow alone isn't too much already).  So, we're going short.  This way, everyone can wear fun shoes (of their chosing) which we will actually be able to see)

  • We live in CT and our wedding is 4/5. Weather in CT can also be chilly or super nice that time of year. We went to visit where we are getting married on our actual day one year out to see what the grounds look like because we want to get married outside. Of course with the crazy nice weather we had this year, everything was soooo green and it was a gorg day just breezy. With that being said my girls will be in short dresses, but this is what I have wanted from the beginning without even factoring in cold or warm weather. If its raining and or super cold we will push the ceremony inside.

  • I think weather is hit or miss, so pick what you want. But if your BM's are uncomfortable in short dresses I would pick long(er) ones.

  • We just changed our date and I moved over here from the May 2013 month.

I'm an NC bride (Cherryville, NC) for 04/06/2013.

My MOH is wearing long and she's the only attendant.

  • Thanks everyone i really appreciate all of the input.
Yea cherryville is like 45-1hr away from me :) (maybe if you like we can plan a GTG with a few other NC brides?)
My mother says my dress is more formal and should have formal bridesmaids dresses. I'm not sure what I want!
  • I'd love to get together.

Charlotte is an easy drive for me.

  • if your doing formal then long if it is more casual then short, and usually outdoor weddings are less formal
  • short... I am in GA and doing short. then again my wedding is outdoors and more of a casual feel. if it is more formal do long.
