April 2013 Weddings

AW- almost paid off!

Hello!  I just transferred money from our paychecks into our wedding savings account today and we are $6 away from paying off the wedding and honeymoon!!!  All of it!  The best part is we are on track to save $2050 more before the wedding is here, which will roll straight over to a baby savings account!!  Woohoo!  So excited!  It took a year, but we finally did it!  THIS feels good :)

Happy Friday ladies!

Re: AW- almost paid off!

  • Congratulations, that's a great accomplishment! I bet that feels wonderful! We still have some details to iron out this month and then we'll be able to finalize payment on all wedding stuff. Aah, it's getting so close!
  • Wowwww I'm jealous. I think we're still.. Cough, 12k, cough away from paying it off. I'm going to convince myself you're a rare exception to being paid off so early so I don't feel so terrible! Haha. The thing is we can't finish paying our venue off til we have an exact head count like a week or two before the wedding. And I'm paying the videographer the day of. So essentially I won't be totally paid off until after the wedding lol

  • Awesome! The only person we will have completely paid off before the day of the wedding is the photographer, everybody else takes final payment the day of.

  • Thanks so much!  It has been stressful saving and really cutting back on everyday things to make it possible, but we are almost there!  Great job to you too Tiny, it is going to feel so good to finialize payments!

  • That's so great, congratulations!

We're still trying to come up with a bunch of money after our tax refunds turned out to be a lot lower than we expected this year. I think we'll manage okay, but the honeymoon might have to go on a credit card. We can manage to pay that off in a month or two if we scrimp. I hate having debt and paying interest!
  • We're about $3k away but that will all be done by the wedding thank goodness.

  • As long as we don't have more than 150 RSVP yes, then we should have everything saved up.  I hate that I can't go ahead and pay most vendors but a lot of the final balances require headcounts.
  • Ich - exactly!  I should say that we have enough to pay it off, not that it is paid off.  We have the money in the bank, but we have to make final payments in the next coming weeks after we get our headcounts, create our must have photo lists etc.  No more stress of saving, but there is the stress of making the payments! :)

I hear ya...I was soooo stressed out about this whole thing until I saw five digits in our joint "wedding/house fund" checking account lol.  Hopefully we can get our taxes done on the 15th and get the refunds back before the wedding :-)  FL doesn't have a state tax so we just have to wait on the feds.
  • That's probably the best freakin check of them all - congrats!!!!

We're hoping to have everything paid off by the wedding. Everything has been paid in cash - no credit cards.  (Well, we put it all on a cc to get the points, then paid it in full every month.)  I'm REALLY sweating the final numbers, though.  We're going to cut it VERY close in terms of the budget.  I LOVE being a SAHM, but there are definite drawbacks, and this is one of them!

lch, if it helps, FI got his taxes done on Wed and with direct deposit, his federal refund should be in his bank account a week from today.  *Fingers crossed*
