marriage license fail!!

My cat bit the corner of our marriage license. Good thing I called in, because that counts as altering it (any tear does, and anything more than a slight puncture) so now FI and I both have to go back in and sign for and buy another one. Really??? Note to you guys- keep your marriage license super safe and don't use white out or cross anything out... *sigh*

Ohhhh, that sucks. Mine is in, as the FI calls it, The Blue Binder of Death and Destruction, in an envelope. That way our puppy can't get to it. I did have a mild panic attack a few days ago because I couldn't remember, after taking it out to find something in the binder, if I put it back in. I made FI look for it, and then because I'm paranoid about these things I looked myself, lol. It was there.

Our town office is open weird hours, so we left work early to apply for it, but I had my mom (who no longer works) pick it up.  She's keeping it safe!

You guys are all smart, I was not!! lol. They said if it had been mailed in after the wedding messed up we still would just have to pay for a redo, but then it would put everything back paperwise, like getting the final license and taking that to social security. Sigh... oh well, yes, at least I found out about it now! Darn cats. Either she was saying, don't get married! Or, this is my way of participating! lol

Oh no! At least you found out beforehand that you need to get a new one so you can get that taken care of asap! Lucky for us, the county council keeps hold of the license before the wedding so there's no chance of it getting messed up (here's hoping it they keep it safe though!).

Wow. Thanks for sharing! We have sneaky kitties, too, and are guilty of leaving important things out. Even though I think I'd file this important paper away in my wedding binder thing, I'll make sure to keep it locked away from kitties to be sure it's safe!!

EDIT: Just realized we'll be getting the license like two days before the wedding since it's out of town. I'm kinda terrified something will happen where they say now (online and I called to check) that we only need certain paperwork...but then will change their minds once we're already there! Hopefully that won't happen...

Yikes! We have to take time from work to get our license, so maybe we'll just store it at my parent's house (their cat is much less likely to kill it). It'd be pretty hard for us to get it again!
