April 2013 Weddings

Shoes?

Im seeing a trend of brides wearing shoes that match the bridesmaid dresses or blue shoes to be their "something blue"

anyone thinking of doing this? or just simple white?

Re: Shoes?

  • I'm thinking about it, but haven't really decided yet. Blue is also one of my colors, so it would match. I'm not sure, I'll figure it out when my dress comes in and we're closer to the wedding. What about you?

  • I have thought about it, but then i keep rethinking if black shoes under my ivory dress would look tacky?

im a size 10 and I fell in love with a pair of discontinued shoes! Where have you been looking for cute bridal shoes?
  • I was thinking of painting the bottom of my shoes dark blue. I heard that if you throw some sand in the paint, you can keep it from being a slipping hazard.
  • I've been thinking about it too. A brighter blue sandal for my beach wedding might be fun.

  • I've actually been scouring the internet for a purple shoe that is cute with a low heel, but have been unsuccessful but I found a pair of gold shoes that I'm likely going to go with as they were so comfy and super cute. I'm probably going to go back to store and try to pick them up this weekend.

  • I want a pair of sapphire blue heels - but they have to be less than 2 inches.  I'm not finding anything good.  :(  I'll likely just do dyeables.

I actually bought my shoes before the dress!!! I have always wanted to wear badgley mischkas, but they are wayyyy out of my budget... I was on the knot one day and someone posted that ideeli had them as a flash sale! They were originally $250 and I got them for $60, I love them... and they are the same color as my bridesmaid dresses grey.  they are a little high... so i plan on bringing flats.

  • I bought some dark blue ballet flats that I'm 99% sure I'm going to wear. I was having a really hard time finding something I loved with under a 2inch heel, so flats it is. I'm probably going to make or buy shoe clips to make them a little more special.

  • Like PP, I need a heel under 2 inches and I can't find anything I like :(  I might go with orange (one of our colors) if I can find something I like.  If not, I'll prob end up with silver or white :)  But I do love the idea of painting the bottoms (or writing the I Do with blue sparklies!).

  • My shoes were the first thing that I bought! Lol.  I knew I wanted royal blue satin peep toes! And I found the perfect pair at David's Bridal. They have a cute little bow and everything. :) I love the look with colored shoes. :)
    Here they are!

  • I have fallen in love with a Badgley Mischka heel I found here on TK that was listed on theglassslipper.com. I plugged the shoe name into google, and found the same shoe for half the price on another site...From $200 down to $100. But I'm waiting to get them until I get my dress...If I get my top choice dress, I will deffinitely get the shoes, but if I get a different dress, I may get a different shoe...The strap on the shoe totally matches the one shoulder strap on my favorite dress. I'm thinking my something blue may be more...personal...in nature ;)

My cousin actually did that for her wedding. Our dresses were lapis so she had the ladies get a champagne/ivory shoe to wear and her shoes were a dark purple. The pictures were awesome!

I don't plan on wearing white shoes, but then again I don't even have a dress yet so who knows what will happen!

  • i likd these from davids bridal
they have several positive reviews butttt 4 inches with a 1 inch platform break worries me that they might be too high...

Nay, those are super cute!  I would guess that you don't have the option of trying them on, right?  I haven't been to a DB in ages so I don't know if they actually display shoes there or not.

I LOVE the idea of colored shoes, and if I can find some to fit my huge feet (I wear a size 11-12, depending on the maker) I will definitely go with color.  If not, my plan is to do white open-toe and do a blue pedicure as my "something blue."

  • I'm coming the the discussion a little late, but I am pretty sure I'm going to buy some cheap shoes that I like the style of (in white or whatever) and then doing pink glitter all over them.  There are a lot of posts on the DIY board of brides doing it successfully, and I trust glitter more than dye-ables (bc I got shoes from David's Bridal dyed lime green when I was a bridesmaid, and when we took pics in the grass, the shoes bled like crazy- shoes basically ruined as-is).
And alintott, I think black shoes would look classy under an ivory dress.

  • I am going to wear pumps that are covered in light gold glitter, and I have matching flats for the reception. I love them both sooo much and plan on rewearing them after the wedding. The best part is that for two pairs of shoes, it was only 80 :
  • To be perfectly honest, I think the colored shoe trend is just that... A trend which will date your wedding in the long run.

I do think it can be super cute and fun, but I'm anti-trend.
  • I am absolutely in love with these shoes from jimmy choo but know if I get them my first will freak

  • I'm got saphire blue peep toe heels, they are a bit hight but FI is 6'5 & I'm 5'5 so I want to be somewhat close to his height during the ceremony. I'll be changing into sparkly silver flats for the reception.

  • i definitely want some color in my shoes or my crinoline.  i have to decide if i want to dye my crinoline purple or wear purple glittery shoes.  i think both would be to much.

I am going to make my own dress, so I'm not 100% decided... but I think I want a light pink crinoline and fuschia pink glittery shoes...  A white dress with light pink belt with flowers (and then the flowers will have fuschia pink tips or centers)... Might be too much, but might be perfect for my wedding;)

    <div>Hey! Sorry, just saw this. :) </div><div>
</div><div>But no they aren't super high. For me anyway. It depends. haha. they're 4 in. heels with like a 1 in. platform.  I love wearing heels so they're about what I normally wear. My FI is super tall, so I can get away with it. :))</div>
