Save the Date Mistake

We got our save the dates in the mail this week and I realized that I spelled our wedding website wrong.  Of course it is my new last name I misspelled and FI won't let me hear the end of it.  Now his last name is spelled correctly elsewhere on the STD so people should be able to figure it out.  Should I include a business card sized insert with the correct address? I was thinking that the writing on the STD maybe too small for people to read anyway so this would be a good way for them to be able to see it.

Re: Save the Date Mistake

  • Have you called the company to see if they'll reprint it?  Sometimes they will.  My FMIL tells me that the company we're going to use will send me a draft copy so I'm going to scan it to FI to make sure everything is correct as a backup to my own eyes :-)
  • I looked at the proof after I noticed the mistake and I guess I approved it that way.  I checked it and so did FI and we didn't realize it.  Since I approved the proof I doubt they will reprint.

  • Oh man that stinks. Including a business card with the correct info is a great idea though.

  • Purchase the incorrect website too.   Then, redirect both URL to the correct landing page It's probably going to be too expensive to reprint.  My guess is most people won't notice, and those that do will forget.  The people who don't notice may type in the incorrect address.  The people who don't will type in "smithwedding.com" as it is written, for example.  The people who are not paying attention to the spelling will automatically type in the correct spelling (Smithe, for example) since they know your last name is Smithe.

Don't sweat it.  Sh*t happens.  I've worked for huge companies who end up spelling URLs incorrectly on major ad campaigns.  there's no reprinting the NY Times.. you know?   Good luck!

This is a great idea if you want to cover all your bases. Like PPs said, it's not the worst thing that could go wrong. People should be able to find their way to the proper site no problem.
  • ouch that really stinks.  I think if you don't want to purchase the rights to the "wrong" site then including a business card that you can print yourself with the correction will be fine.  and think of it this way you will have a really funny story to tell later!

  • my original photos on my std printed too dark. I went through vista print and called them about it. I was explaining that on the computer screen you could make out specific details but on the print those same details were too dark to make out. Before I even asked what my options were the rep on the line asked if I could change my photo. I said that wouldnt be a problem, she walked me through the process and  even expidited my order for free. Contacting the company cant hurt to try!

  • Am I supposed to pay for sending out Save The Dates, via email, from this website?  After I enter in the information to the Save The Date page and press save and continue, it seems to just boot me back to the home page?  What am I doing wrong?
