Why, you may ask..... because my upstairs neighbor started his trumpet practice at 5:53AM today and is still going strong, and I'm about to go upstairs, kick in his door, and shove that trumpet where the sun doesn't shine!

looool @ ChiGirl ! By the sound of things you  might really make not only the news but the headline! I can imagine what u r going thru. Take it easy and hope you get some relieve soon.

Wow! I think I would have already kicked his door in myself.  That is just an obnoxious thing to do--playing your trumpet that early in the morning is insane.

I probably wouldn't care if his "practice room" wasn't directly above my 4 year old's bedroom.  Let's just say she was impossible today, fell asleep kneeling on the kitchen floor during dinner, and I am glad she is in bed! 

I did bump into him today and told him "I don't want to cause any trouble, but I don't think you are aware that your trumpet practice room is right above dd's bedroom and we can hear you loud and clear when you start your practice early in the morning.  If you could hold off until about 7:30, I would REALLY appreciate it because she doesn't do well when her sleep is interrupted."  He grunted and walked away.  Jerk.  But.... he's the landlord's brother so I had to be nice.

I was totally imagining burying that trumpet in an unpleasant place while I was talking to him, though.

You were definitely right to say something, to bad that he is the landlord's brother though.  he probably thinks he can get away with anything he wants.
