We have a solo violinist playing our ceremony music. All of the suggestions he has given are so far off-base from what I imagined that it's starting to frustrate me. I've gone back and forth with him for 2 months and we've finally chosen our ceremony music..... except the seating of the parents.
So far, we're using:
Bridal party entrance: Lover's Waltz by J. Ungar
Bridal entrance: All I Ask of You by A. L. Webber (from Phantom of the Opera)
Recessional: Trumpet Tune by Purcell
He doesn't really have any modern songs in his repertoire, and the classical stuff he has is very dark and depressing. I'm also hoping to stay away from the "old standards" of Canon in D, Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring, etc - not that there's anything wrong with them, but what we REALLY want is to have a wedding that isn't like all the dozens of others that our family/friends have had. (1Corinthians was out of the question as a reading for this reason as well.)
I've just spent 3 hours online trying to figure this out and I can't come up with a single song that isn't overdone or too modern for a classical violinist. (He came with our package, so we didn't have a choice of musicians.) Anyone have any ideas? I want an UPBEAT, happy, light-hearted song that will sound good as a violin solo. Thanks!
