Ring Bearer gift

Trying to come up with a gift idea for my nephew, who is our RB.  Trying to keep it around $15-$20.  Any ideas?

He is 3 and likes trains, tractors, boats, cars, trucks, etc.

We got ours a pewter coin bank. They come in cars, tractors, trains, etc. But we got them fire engines, because both FI and their dad are firefighters. Link.
  • My sister had two 3 year old ring bearers.  She got them silver train banks with their names engraved on them.

Our ring bearer is a big easier - he's heading to Disney World right after our wedding so I bought him his autograph book from the Disney Store and gave him a gift card to buy a souvenir.

Are you going for practical or for sentimental keepsakes?  At that age, it's highly unlikely that a keepsake will still be around in a few years, unless the parents put it away for him.  I'd go with something he can enjoy, not just look at on a shelf.  What about a pilot's uniform?  Is there a train museum or somewhere he'd like that you can get him a gift certificate to visit, and maybe present it with a train whistle?

  • Von, you read my mind!  I saw one on the Things Remembered website but it would have been twice the price I was looking for.

    Choo-choo!!!

Chi-we just took him to Disney World and since my BIL lost his job recently I doubt they'll be coming back down for awhile.  They live in the middle of nowhere so museums and culture are non existant lol.

The train piggy bank will work well because he can actually use and play with it and it might just be durable enough to hold up through the years.  If not, oh well!
  • Try this one: Pewter Finish Train Bank

ThingsRemembered is great for gift ideas, but it's hella pricey sometimes. I ended up buying lockets off of Amazon for our flower girls rather than buy them at TR. They wanted $50 for a silver locket!
  • My 3 year old nephew is our ring bearer. I didn't get him anything sentimental, because i know it wouldn't last. He is obessed with all things superheroes and mazes right now, so I bought him a batman boat toy and a maze book and crayons (to keep him occupied during the ceremony)

  • He sounds just like FI's nephew. For Christmas, we got him a play rug from IKEA and it is like a map - has roads, shops etc and we bought him some cars to play on it. He LOVED it.

  • That Ikea rug is cute!  My ring bearers are my nephews who are 3 and 5.  I was planning on going to Toys R Us and looking around for something that they might like.  Good idea to get something that can keep them busy during the reception.

They are total boys and if I bought them anything sentimental I know they would break it in about an hour, lol.

  • I bought all the kids coloring books and washable crayons for the reception. I'm going to have them sitting on their place setting instead of the menu card the adults are getting. I went with washable just in case they accidentally color on the venue's white tablecloths...
  • I had this same issue and while I  agree that a young child doesn't care about sentimental gifts, I spoil my nephew rotten already so getting him another toy didn't seem special enough.  Soooooo we decided to do something fun with him instead!  Since my sister is pregnant and will probably be a big sweaty, lazy mess this summer, FI and I are planning to take him out on a fun trip.  Right now, I'm thinking the duck boats in Boston.  I commute into the city and my nephew is obsessed with the train and has only been on it once so far.  We thought we could take him in by train, go on a duck tour, eat some ice cream, etc.  I have such good memories of my aunt taking us out to fun places when we were kids and want to have that same connection with my nephew!
