The seamstress says she can fix it.  The good thing is that the dress is a silk sheath underneath and an organza overlay.  The work that needs to be done can be done to the layer underneath, and it won't really matter what it looks like because the organza will cover it up.  The organza on the chest part is actually "folded" to look like it's bunched together so it should hide any ugly stitching underneath very well.

And, of course, taking a few inches off the bottom is no problem since the hem doesn't have any lace or beading along the hem.  If she has to use some of the silk from the hem that she cuts to make the dress bigger, it will go underneath the organza, and since the chest is WAY too big, there is plenty of organza material to just pull it and make it fit.

So it looks like it will work out in the end, although I'm sure it will cost a small fortune.  She measure the cups at a size G, and I'm a C - lots of work to do!  lol  I already scheduled my appointment for January, and she said she was almost filled up for new April brides.  Wow!  I'm still going to try and lose quite a bit of weight - down another 2 lbs last week - but it's a relief to know that I don't have to starve myself because the dress IS fixable.

    Thanks for asking!  :-)

  • Good to hear! I'm glad it's going to work out :-). I ordered my dress a few days ago. The sales associate said I needed a size that's half of what I normally wear b/c of the corset back so I'm hoping mine fits, too!!!
