April 2013 Weddings

Shoes!

So I've been wanting pink shoes for the wedding, but I haven't found anything I like anywhere. Most of the pink shoes out there are hot pink right now. I get it; florecents are big. But we're doing PALE pink, not HOT pink...So I've been searching online for a couple weeks (since I picked out my dress) for the perfect shoes. Finally, thanks in part to TK, I found the perfect shoes, which of course will have to be custom made. MyGlassSlipper.com has a great selection of designer shoes (which are not cheep), shoe decorations, and a ton of colors for dying. SO...

THIS is what I'm planning on getting, in light pink for the wedding. I love the pleating, open toe, and the decoration will go nicely with the pearl and crystal detail on my dress...now I just have to save up for them in time to get them before my dress gets here!

Anyone else pick out your shoes yet?

Re: Shoes!

  • I actually have had my shoes for a while.  I found them (without looking for them) on Black Friday last year.  Our wedding colors are blue, purple, and green and I was convinced that I was going to get blue shoes.  I saw these and loved how fun they were.  When I tried them on and realized that they were comfortable too I was sold.

  • I haven't decided what I'm doing yet.  I'm not a person very comfortable in heels, but I wouldn't mind being a little dressy.  I'm thinking about strappy sandal-like shoes with a very short, maybe 1 inch heel.
  • I had bought some plain blue ballet flats thinking I could dress them up with some shoe clips but really wasn't happy with them, then while out shopping I saw these shoes on clearance, all by themselves on a shelf, only one pair left and it just happened to be my size. Super comfortable. Shoe magic.

  • So I've been thinking a bit more about this and I'm somewhat concerned.

I'd like a nice pair, but I'm really unsure about shopping for them.  The place I'm getting my dress from only had a few styles of shoes.  I've seen a bunch online I like, but I can't really shop for shoes online.  The size of my feet vary so much from brand to brand.  I'm like, the width of a 7 but the length of a 6-6.5, but it's not quite that simple.  I broke my baby toe a couple of years ago and it never really set the way it was before, so that's another added challenge.

Aaaaanyway, where are you gals shopping?  I looked briefly at David's Bridal while my sis was trying on BM dresses, but it's 3-4" heels or flip flops, neither of which I want.  I found a few styles at the David's Bridal website, but they're online-only.

Do you think I'll have any luck looking at a department store like Kohl's or JCPenny?  Am I overthinking things and just haven't looked at the right bridal salon?

Hm,  never thought I'd be shoe-panicking this early.
  • I found mine at Francesca's Collection, which is just a chain boutique. You might find more white shoes now on the end of summer sales racks at department stores. Honestly, I think bridal store shoes were unattractive and overpriced for Payless quality. I like DSWs selection for formal shoes and Macys is pretty good too. You've got time, when just keep your eyes open when you are shopping.

Zappos.com does free shipping both ways if you want to try ordering online. I'm between an 8.5 and a 9 so I order both sizes and return one.

  • Spunky, I absolutely LOVE those shoes. I want to buy them to wear everyday lol.

  • I was searching EVERYWHERE for bright blue shoes.  My FI is pretty much the same height as I am so I couldn't go much highter than two inches, either.  My mom found these online and endless.com (Amazon's shoe service); they're by RSVP and RSVP has a TON of blue shoes, FYI.  Also, they're cuter in person!

  • Love everyones shoes!!!! I am wearing badgey mishckas!!! My dream wedding shoes, but I didn't pay what I thought I was going to. I found them on ideeli during a flash sale and got them for $60!!! I bought the shoes before I bought my dress.

Also, I am looking to have my girls wear pale pink shoes, and dsw had some nice ones! They also had some badgley mischkas at a great price too!

  • Yay! We all pick awesome shoes! I'm deffinitly a shoe horse (go figure I work at a shoe store...) so I'm glad my fellow April brides have good shoe sense. I sent the pic to my MoH yesterday, and she loves them, so I'm happy. We don't always agree on fashon things, so to get her approval makes me happy.

  • yup! in the orange. I love them! They were the perfect height and comfortable enough, and way more affordable then any of the shoes I looked into to dye. I'd recommend them!

  • Me too!  They are super comfy.  I need to scuff up the bottoms, though; I was sliding around my parents' house in them, haha.

    these for the shower

the shoes are the same style, just different colors. I found the blue pair & was like wedding shoes, well before i even had the dress!

  • Well, we're getting married outside on the grass, so flats it is for me.  Plus, I'm 6' tall and wear a size 12 shoe so that REALLY narrows my options down.  :-(  I've been scouring the few sites I know of that sell sasquatch sizes and so far.... nada.  I should just go barefoot, or use the silver sparkly flip flops that I got for the reception.  I just don't want to hear the flip flop "sound" as I'm walking down the aisle.  lol

  • ChiGirl  I feel your pain - I'm just shy of 6' and wear an 11 so shoe shopping is always depressing.  Which sucks because I LOVE shoes! I see all these amazing heels you other girls are posting and I am super jealous.  But the fiance is already shorter than I am so heels are definately not happening!

On a vacation last spring - my fiance bought me a pair of awesome bright blue flats that I love and I'm considering just wearing them.  They can be my something blue!

Ditto! My FI is almost 2 inches shorter than me so I ended up going with kitten heels for my shoes. On TK mobile so can't post a pic will do later

  • @shipsinthenight...your shoes are GORGEOUS! I LOVE them and I think they will look even better in the light pink you want.  Goodluck:)

  • Loving the fun shoes! I am not really a shoe person (yet), so I don't really know the best places to look and cannot for the life of me walk in heels comfortably. I'm going to be realistic for the wedding and wear a low heel, wedge or sandal. FI is taller than me so I have plenty to work with, but heels just really aren't my style. Haven't decided if I want fun-colored shoes like green, pink or blue...or just white ones. Maybe I'll get both if I find some great ones.

I did find some cute shoes that might work for my bridesmaids tho: http://www.6pm.com/nina-criana-apple-green-satin -- pretty basic, but the low heel looks decently comfortable. Will have to see what bridesmaid dress we decide on tho first!
