Mother/Daughter Dance

I posted this on the music board, but did not get much feed back.

My mom told me that she would like to dance with me at the wedding (my dad passed two years ago to cancer, and FI lost his mother 1 year ago as well to cancer) I let my mom know that FI and I were not sure if we were going to do "parent" dances. If we did I would dance with my mom and FI would dance with his aunt. We do not want it to be "sappy" in the fact that my dad and his mom are not here. So in turn my mom and I decided that if we do dance it will most likely be dancing to an upbeat fun song. Does anyone have any recommendations to a fun song to use? (No Carrie Underwood "mamas song"--not what we are looking for)

I don't think it sounds sappy, I think it's super cute actually.  Everyone at the wedding knows of your, and your FI's loss so I'll bet they'll see it as a sweet change to tradition.  My mom passed in '07 and I've been thinking alot about how to honor her without being sooo reminded on the day of that it makes the day harder to bear than it already will be.  Are you going to leave an empty seat at the ceremony?  I've been thinking of just carrying photos attached to my bouquet...  Hugs

Do you guys have a song that you loved from when you were growing up? One that when you hear it you think of fun times from back in the day?
