Pearl's Place

I ordered my wedding dress from Pearl's Place. I had great service when I went in both times and am going in within the next two weeks to pick it up. I have heard horrible things about their alterations from a friend and it scares me. I am not having it altered when I pick it up since my wedding is not until October, but need to make a decision on whether or not to let them do the alterations.

My question is, has anyone else had problems with alterations? My friend had major problems with her bridesmaid dress. The seam in the back was crooked and the sleeves were not even altered - she said they still had the pins in it and the wedding was the next day so there was nothing they could really do.

Just trying to make an educated decision before I go in there.

Thanks!

i wouldn't risk getting alterations there, even if they are free.  take it to danny at the golden needle on florida blvd and ask for a quote.  you won't have any worries or regrets with him fixing your dress.

Thank you! I've been thinking about it and I was feeling the same way. I'm going Wednesday to pick it up and try it on and they said I won't need to do alterations until later. I will just arrange that somewhere else.

Did you have yours done at the Golden Needle? I have heard a ton of raves about that place. Approximately how much were your alterations if you did get them done there? I probably do not need anything done to the length as I am 5'9", but would need it taken in. My sister recommended I go where she went and we got our bridesmaids dresses done there. My sister's dress was about $75 she said. I was not thoroughly impressed with my bridesmaid dress, but I figure she pays a lot more detail the wedding dresses. She did my sister's wedding dress within a few days.

I definitely agree about the Golden Needle.  The guy who works there says he advises all of his brides to buy their dress at Pearls Place but take the dress and run!! My best friend got her wedding dress altered there and he did a fantastic job!!  I think it was around $50-60?  He didn't have to do much though.  I bought my dress from Pearls Place and I have to get a bustle and everything in my dress and I plan on bringing it to Golden Needle.  They also have a very quick turnaround time.  Good Luck!!

I took my dress to the Golden Needle. I needed a TON of alterations done and it only cost me aroiund 200 dollars. It included taking it in 2 inches on each side, taking it up on the length and he had to do some manuevering to take it up in length, and I had my bustle done. My mom's dress only cost about 75 dollars and she had it taken up in length and taken in just a tad on the sides. None of my bridesmaids needed alterations. He did a fantastic job. I brought him the dress 4 weeks before my bridal portraits and he had all the alterations finished in less than 2 weeks. Then after my bridals, I took it to him again to steam and do a spot treatment - which was free and I picked it up the day before my wedding.
