Southern Bridal Registry - Won a free honeymoon?

Hi,

I got a call today from Maria at this company. She said my fiance and I were selected to win 2 champagne flutes and a 3 day 2 night trip to an all inclusive resort. All we have to pay for is air fare. In order to get it, we need to go to a cooking demonstration Thursday night at the Hampton Inn. Anyone get this same call or have any knowledge of this? Trying to figure out if it's a scam or not.

Thanks!
Morgan

I did get the call, but I didn't go to the class.  I thought it was a scam too which is why I didn't go!

it's definitely a scam.  if you google the phone number, which I'm pretty sure is a Nashville area code, you'll get thousands of results of people warning you about it.  They say there's no obligation for the class/ cooking demonstration/ etc. but there is some type of obligation.  I'm not sure what it is but don't waste your time or your money going.  And you don't get a free honeymoon or anything like that.  They even have multiple names for their "company" I got called twice by them.  I thought it was legit then I googled them.  I didn't go to the class.

Yeah they called me too last week! I was really confused when she explained who they were, and the ONLY reason why I didn't immediately hang up was because I thought someone had bought me something from them and I needed to remove it from my real bridal registry. I was pretty aggravated when I found out who they really were and told them I didn't have time to talk. They called me back later but I didn't answer.

I registered to go to bridal fair in my city (because you had to pre-register to go) and ended up not attending due to family stuff. Anyway, I knew it was a scam from the time they called because they left a message saying, "While you were at the Bridal Fair you stopped by our booth and registered for a free honeymoon!" Funny, since I wasn't at the bridal fair...

It seems that David's Bridal sells your information too, I'm glad I found a dress online. I don't want to give them my money.

Yeah, these folks got my number from a bridal show, too. They were calling me even AFTER my wedding. Eventually they stopped, though.

It's pretty shady. I didn't go to the demo. They were serving chicken and I'm a vegetarian. I asked the guy about a vegetarian option, and he was totally baffled. I guess his script didn't cover that.

Update: they called me back a couple of days later... after calling and saying I registered at a fair I DIDN'T ATTEND, they called and said thay a friend had registered me. And I guess because of my lack of calling back they were seeking to punish me, because I no longer qualified for a free honeymoon, just two free gifts.

  • I went to a Bride's Against Breast Cancer event last weekend and got a call today from "Southern Bridal Registry."  Very unhappy to think that such a charitable organization would sell my info to a scam company!!
