Dresses

Oh wow, mom and I just went wedding dress shopping for the first time today. I got overwhelmed with there being so many dresses at the first place and mom got overwhelmed the second place. I'm scheduling an appointment soon so I can try some on this week. I was expecting to go try some on today, but we ended up leaving after looking at so many and not being able to choose what to try! lol

I went to white lace and promises, wedding wonderland, bella boutique, davids, and alfred angelo in Knoxville. I had appointments with 7 places in cbus over turkey day week (Wendy's, Elegant Bride, Trumpington, Alan Ray, Le juene marie, bella lacio, and girls in white dresses). After my first two appts in cbus (Wendy's and Elegant), my sister and I decided to drive down to Cinci bridal and formal. I decided after trying on over 100 dresses between the 5 places in Knoxville and 3 in Ohio that I just wanted to be done with it. Sounds terrible but I was just so sick of putting on dresses. Anyway, I got mine at Cinci B&F but I had a good time at Wendy's Dublin and at White Lace and Promises in Knoxville too.
I know alot of people like Elegant Bride but the shop owner did not listen to a word I said. Don't get me wrong, she was nice, but I didn't like the experience there. What killed me was that she went into this huge big spiel about dress matching personality of the person and wedding and she would tell me if I looked bad in something. She would oow and aww about dresses I came out in and my sister and I just looked at each other like what?!....we both came out of the appt thinking so much for honesty. Anyway, it bothered me that I couldn't go looking through the dresses and try on what I wanted. I felt like I was on Say Yes to the Dress and I just wanted to be one of those families/girls that go behind the consultants back to find other options. I realize the consultant should be an expert on what to put someone in but it was awful. I swear I tried on the same dress there by 5 different designers while I was there. Finally, I said to her that I didn't like the dresses I was put in and told her what I like and disliked. She came back with a 6th dress that was exactly like what I had tried already in the appt so my sister and I decided the appt had to end. I feel bad saying that I hated the place because she was a very nice person and obviously other people have had completely different experiences but mine didn't match up to that. I think, though, everyone has a bad experience at certain places that are typically excellent. I am assuming I was just one of those people.
Anyway, since I got my dress at B&F, I cancelled the other 5 appts, so I can't comment on them.

I went to Universe Bridal for my first experience and it was fabulous, but ended up finding a similar dress at Alfred Angelo's for almost half the price on a great sale!...super happy with both shopping experiences!

I highly recommend Girls in White Dresses, Courtney is such a doll! She was so sweet when I was there picking out my dress and made me feel like a special princess and made me feel beautiful. She was really all about making it a good experience for me, the bride. They have a good selection and their dresses are gorgeous!

Alfred Angelo! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! I also went to trumpington and had a great experience.  I WOULD NOT recommend Davids or Wendys... i had terrible service at both and i hated everything  they had in stock! but i guess that just my preference!

I went to Wendy's at that's it! I didn't want to prolong the dress hunt. My family and friends live out of town so trying to get them down here for multiple dress stores would be hard. I wanted them there with me when I made my decision. I loved the girl I worked with at Wendy's... she was so nice. They let us just go pick dresses that we liked and I tried them on. They were so beautiful, but some looked funnier on me than others. I went in with the intent to get a big ball gown thing, but I looked terrible. I ended up with something totally different and I couldn't be happier :) I might be a little bias, but it's the prettiest dress i've ever seen! ;)

We went to Wendy's Bridal briefly, then to Alfred Angelo and then David's Bridal. I just went and tried on David's Bridal dresses today and I don't really like their collection right now. I think we might go to the places you guys suggested. I noticed a lot of the pretty dresses on theknot were in one Cincinnati place. The lady from David's Bridal was super nice and helpful; I just didn't like  the dresses.

I went to Universe Bridal in Coshocton. It was amazing. They had the exact dress that I wanted, and while other places wanted around $1,500 for it, I paid $425! It is a bit out of the way (and it looks kinda sketchy/weird) but it is totally worth the trip!

I went to Wendy's, David's and Alfred Angelo to look at bridesmaid dresses.  David's was horrible.  Wendy's was actually really great or maybe we just got a great consultant.  They didn't have the right color or we would have bought there. Alfred ANgelo was ok, but they had the dress and the right color so we bought from there.  Their consultants were inexperienced, lost the measurements and I had to go in 3 times to pick up the 3 dresses that we ordered all at once and on one bill.  Hopefully they are getting better now!  One of the dresses though was sewn wrong and all messed up down one side and luckily the store near that bridesmaid was willing and able to correct it.

Yea, before I bought my dress from AA, I totally confronted them, haha.  I said that the Columbus Knotties who had used them weren't happy with their service and were bashing them on the boards.  I spoke to the GM and she assured me that it was growing pains..they just opened that salon in the beginning of 2011, so it took them a while to get the kinks worked out.  Unfortunately, alot of the summer brides had poor experiences as a result of their staffing issues...I think they've shed those consultants and have a better group in the store now.

The staff that I've worked with has been great so far.  I've been in 2 times for my own dress shopping and now 5 times for BM dress shopping, they've been totally helpful and accomodating, even during busy times.

I went to Wendy's a couple times, got my dress there (sample off the rack) and had good experiences.  I didn't care for David's but I get it, they have so many people coming thru they can't cater to you like the other places.  We did get our BM dresses from David's
