Jackson Square brides- past or future- questions!

Hi!  We are considering having our ceremony in Jackson Square, but I have a question for anyone who might be able to answer!  What do you do about all of the tourists?  When you get a permit through the parks department, does it give you exclusive access to the square for a short time, or can people wander through your wedding site?  What's keeping them from sitting in your chairs?  Knocking something over?  Running through the aisle as you're walking down it?  Jumping in and photobombing your photos?

I'm from New Orleans originally, and I have rarely seen the square empty.  I've noticed pictures on the internet of it seemingly abandoned, with no art hanging on the fences, or no tourists peeking through the bars.  I've never seen it like this in real life!  Am I missing something?  I am fantasizing about a ceremony there but keep freaking out imagining some hooligan yelling curse words out during the ceremony!

As far as I know, the permit is just for use of the space and does not keep people out of the square. There are plenty on this board who have done it successfully, hopefully they will chime in with some tips.
  • Thank you!  I am sure I'm overreacting, but I'm looking at all of these photo blogs of actual ceremonies, and so many of them show just the wedding guests.  I'm like, WHERE are all of the tourists?  Why are those fences clear?  How did they DO THAT?  Lol.  Photoshop.  It's got to be Photoshop.  ;)
  • I got a photo permit to take photos on the day of my wedding.  They will be tons of tourists, but I think most people are pretty respectful of your wedding.  It's a public park, so they can't shut down the whole thing just for your wedding.  It will be fine, but if you're looking for something more private, you should rent a courtyard or something.
  • So I am having my ceremony there so hopefully it will go well!  The time of the ceremony may be helpful.  I have a wedding planner and she put it at the same time as the service inside the church.  That way, no one is allowed to be sitting right in front selling anything or playing music. One way to keep it limited I guess.  She said people will be around but most are fairly respectful.  Probably some hooting and hollaring though :)
