    What part of town?

Is there someone with a large enough home who might be willing to host it (as long as other people helped with food/cleanup/etc.)?
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.

Mother's on Podryas has a good space for a couples shower and you are not to far away from downtown if people want to go out after.

River town in Kenner has a bunch of cute halls that allow you to bring in outside catering and what not. The mardi gras museum, exhibition hall, just a few of them to name.  Contact city of Kenner parks and recreation and google these places, You may be interested!.. Hope that helps!

Rock N Bowl could be fun - we are looking into doing our welcome party there. Prices are reasonable and it's definitely not your typical shower :)

I went to a couple shower at Felipe's downtown and loved it! They have an upstairs room with a bar and had buffet style food as well as a chef cooking the meat in the room. Highly recommended!

We had an engagement party at Maximo's on Decatur.  There is a private room upstairs with a balcony that overlooks Decatur.  It was really nice!
