Eloping

Hello,

This is my first post here so I apologize in advance if this topic has already been covered. I’m looking for advice on eloping to NOLA (I live in Cleveland). This probably won’t be for a few more months. All of the websites I have visited keep saying that there are B&B’s that will allow you to use their courtyards  for a wedding ceremony/reception for free or a small fee if you’re a guest there. I can’t seem to find any more detailed information.

The goal is to stay on the cheap side, but make it nice (well, the real goal is to have café du monde the morning of our wedding day, lol). There will probably be around 20-35 guests. I’ve never planned anything like this in my life – so any tips or anything from the locals is especially appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Eloping

  • The Benachi House will do it if you call them directly and ask to speak to Marta (the housekeeper/manager). Just tell her you're eloping and it will be short and simple. I got married very young almost 10 years ago and we did it there for $200.00. It was beautiful.
  • That sounds perfect! I've been contacting a few places but never know what to say. But $200 and beautiful sounds like you hit the nail right on the head!

Just as an update - I didn't call to speak to anyone yet but their website says that events start at $1,500. Is this just starting price for a "traditional" reception? We wouldn't have more than, maybe 10-15 people.
  • Second update - spoke to manager John who told me that it was not in their best interest or cost effective for them to host such a small event and did not give me a price or anything, basically indicating that they could not accomidate us.
  • The Beauregard-Keyes house has a beautifully manicured garden.  The quoted us $300 for a 30 minute ceremony.   The reception rental is much higher though.

  • Thanks! The more I look into it - the more that I'm leaning towards a park wedding with a small reception/dinner. I think that might be all that fits into the budget. The idea is to do low cost but special. So for a $1,000-$2,000 - it seems perfect. I think the guest list is shortening, so that's good for us.

All I really want is to wake up - have cafe du monde on our wedding day, get married and then just relax the rest of the week lol. Love the south!
