Omni Royal, Le Pavillon, Hotel Mazarin, Bourbon Orleans, etc...

Has anyone had any luck getting reasonable reception packages from the more "well known" New Orleans hotels? Trying to compare to using Board Of Trade which will end up costing $15,000 for just venue and food. I know alot of the establishments include cakes and hotel for night of. Might be more convient for out of town guests . Just trying to consider and cover all my bases. Thanks!

Even though many of the hotels I looked at did not charge a room rental fee, the packages were substantially more expensive than renting a space and hiring a caterer.  This may be less of an issue if you have a smaller wedding, because you are just trying to meet a food and beverage minimum.

I had a very large wedding and the hotel packages were probably twice what I would have paid per person, so it worked out better for me to do it at the board of trade.  The killer for me was that the bar package was always separate from the food and then you had to pay tax and gratuity on top of that.  You just need to do the math to see if that $4,000 flat rate rental fee will save you money in the long run.

I also didn't like a lot of the hotel ballrooms, because they were windowless.  Bourbon Orleans and Hotel Mazarin were some of the exceptions.
  • We are having our wedding at Le Pavillion, and part of the reason was that they were really willing to work with us on pricing and availability, and also, we could do everything there. (we live in Chicago). Plus Gwen is the sweetest lady. When you call her, tell her Marc Dumas said hello and that's how you got her name - she'll take good care of you.
  • I will say, we are getting married on a Friday in September, so that probably has something to do with it
