In the heart of cutting overhead.

My FI drives a 15 year old Ford truck, and he loves it.  It is cheap to insure, gets ok mileage for how far he drives, and is cheap to maintain and insure.  What are some of the knotties out there driving to keep the expenses down?

Re: In the heart of cutting overhead.

  • My answer doesn't really help since I live in NYC and don't drive my car anymore, but my 2000 Honda Accord has 60,000 miles on it and I'm driving it until it dies.  It's sitting at home in Louisiana for now, but I will probably move somewhere eventually where I will need a car.
  • My FI swears that a Honda is good for almost 300,000 miles if they are religiously maintained...
  • My honda is exactly 15 years old.... I guess by yor quiz that qualifies me for back to the future level vehicle??
  • Mine is an old camry, 17 years old and will not die, not that I am trying to kill it or anything, but it just keeps on keeping on.  I guess that she did not think so many had old vehicles when she made the survey...
  • I didn't exactly buy mine to keep costs down unfortunately.  So my answer isn't helpful, but I'll share anyway!  Mine was a college gift from DH and myself.  I have a 2011 BMW 128i convertible.  It was my first new car ever and I've always wanted a convertible.  To keep it MM, we have .9% financing and put down a good bit as well.
