FQ Pub Crawl ideas anyone?

A week from tomorrow (yikes!) we'll be doing a pub crawl with about 2 dozen OOT guests.  Does anyone have any suggestions of a good route to hit 4-7 bars that might be particularly interesting, noteworthy or good and that would begin and/or end on Bourbon Street?  Anyone have a route they used for guests?  So many guests have emailed to say this is the activity they are looking forward to the most so I'm feeling the pressure to make it good!

Thanks ladies.

  • We started out at Molly's on Decatur. One of the GM went ahead of us and went to El Gato Negro to order a mass amount of pineapple cilantro margaritas so they were mostly ready when we stopped by. We used them as to-go drinks to get to R-bar and ended at The John. It was a blast. We didn't do Bourbon at all because we didn't want to, but you can always start or end there. A lot of our group stayed on Frenchman after everyone started splitting up, I think a big group wound up at the spotted cat the rest of the night.
  • Ok, I'm going to look those up on a map.  Sounds fun-- thanks!
  • If you want to end up on Bourbon, my two favorites are Jean Lafitte's and Pat O's. You may already know all of this, so sorry if I am giving you info you already know, but if not, here is my 2 cents.  Lafitte's is at the end (opposite from Canal) and Pat O's is kind-of in the middle.  Pat O's is definitely a landmark, so OOT guests may like that.  If you decide to include it, I'd aim to get there at around 9 or 11pm; that's when they change piano players, so the crowd usually thins out for a little bit and you'll be much more likely to be able to get that many people seated in the general vicinity of each other.  I just love the dueling pianos there - the last time my FH and I were in New Orleans they played "Gin and Juice"!  It was awesome!!!!  Lafitte's is also a landmark but a little less touristy (IMO).  It is also a lot smaller (Pat O's has several areas that are larger than the actual piano bar), but it is a really cool place and they make great drinks! Have a great time!!!!

  • We've always liked the bar at the Redfish Grill but partly for the appetizers - barbecue oysters are one of our favorites.  My brother loves the Abvinthe House which is also on Bourbon.

We're doing an oyster crawl with a small group a couple of nights before the wedding.  Going to start at Dragos for char grilled oysters and Chardonnay.  Then on to Acme for oysters on the half shell and Abita, finishing up at Redfish for barbecue oysters and whatever.
    Yum, can't wait.

Have fun, Bezlu.  Can't wait to read your reviews.
