Louisiana-New Orleans

Invitation wording

I am having my ceremony and reception in the same place, with the second line in between. Since I don't know exactly what time the reception will start, I was thinking of using the wording below.  All my guests are OOT and I am assuming they will all show up for both the ceremony and the reception. Does this seem OK?

BRIDE’S FIRST MIDDLE LAST NAME
and
Mr. GROOM’S FIRST MIDDLE LAST NAME
invite you to share in
the joy of their marriage
on DAY, the FORMAL DATE of MONTH
YEAR
at FORMAL TIME o’clock in the TIME OF DAY
LOCATION
ADDRESS
CITY, STATE

Second Line and Reception immediately following the ceremony

Re: Invitation wording

  • I simply put reception to follow at the bottom of my invitation. It's implied that it's at the same location.  Will your guests know what a second line is?

  • They will know what a second line is if they look at my wedding website, which so far most people don't seem to be doing, because they seem surprised when I mention it the address was on my STDs. But anyway I think they will be confused that we are at the venue, leaving the venue, and coming back to the same venue. I will just delete that part and maybe include an info card in the invite envelope.
