Eyelash extensions

Has anyone here had them done? I hear mixed reviews, and want to get some first hand info from someone who has had first hand experience.  Fake nails make your real ones weak, what about the lash extensions?

I've been getting eyelash extensions from the same esthetician for almost 7 years now. My suggestion is to go to a licensed reputable esthetician (who is trained in eyelash extensions) and have them apply your first set. It takes about an hour to do. My girl uses "permanent" eyelash glue meaning  the lash extension stays on the actual eyelash until the lash hair falls out (usually lasts a month).  There are some eyelash glues that are "semi-permanent" meaning they last about two weeks. The horror stories typically come from ladies who either get an allergic reaction to the glue (there are several brands of glue) or the lash technician didn't properly clean/sterilize the lash applicators (they look like tweezers) and an eye infection followed.

 Also, if you do decide to get them they will take some time getting used to. They will "feel" heavy if you get them too long. I  go conservative with my lash extension length ( I tend to have longer extensions on the outer lashes and shorter ones on the middle to inner ones). I still get comments on long my eyelashes are though. I get my "fills" every 2-3 weeks (since lashes do grow and fall out). Every 4-6 months I let the lash extensions grow out or I use a special eyelash glue remover to remove them and let my natural eyelashes go "bare" for about a month.Yes, they are finer but they are not shorter than they were before the extensions ( I am of Asian decent. So my natural lashes grow short, straight and slightly downward-hence eyelash extensions). I do not apply eyeliner nor do I apply mascara on my lashes but I do wear eye makeup. I shower, swim, and sleep normally and I haven't had any problems with them.
