Cake Cutting?

We were wondering about the Cake Cutting timeframe. Do you guys think that cutting the cake earlier in the reception is better? I feel like if we wait people will leave  especially the older couples. The reception will start at 6pm-11pm so we thought about cutting the cake around 8pm right after dinner. Advice?

I think right after dinner is a good idea. People will leave before the cake if it gets too late.

Our reception was 6-10 and we cut cake at 830. No one left prior.

We are cutting our cake as early as possible. I think it's fine to do it while people are kind of still eating, because it's a momentum killer to eat, get up and dance, then have to stop and eat cake sitting down again.

Agree.  We're doing ours while people are eating, at about 8 (7-11:30 reception) so it can  be served for dessert.

Dessert sounds great! Eat, get cake, drink, dance the night away...sounds like a pretty good order of things to do to me!
