We have decided on a vow renewal ceremony/reception at Muriels.

I am looking to have a guitar/violin duo perform at our wedding for 1 hour.

Does anyone have any experience at an estimate of cost?

Also I am not familiar at all with etiquette in regards to tipping, offering food, drinks?

Would appreciate any input!!

Check out Harry Hardin with New Orleans Finest Musicians. He has a fairly detailed website, came highly recommended here on the boards and by my planner, and has been great to work with so far. He will communicate in detail over the phone and thru email. Based on my own choices and what I have seen on his website, I believe each musician costs around $250 so a duo would be about $500. I am not sure about tipping or the other etiquette questions you ask, but my though would be you are not obligated to feed a vendor that is only there for one hour.

I would also try Dr. Jazz - he is online and has a variety of options. We ended up going with a brass band, but from what I remember when we were searching, he had very good prices and lots of options.

I am hiring the Courtyard Kings for our ceremony.  IIRC, their pricing is $250/musician and they will play for three hours.  They can have a duo, trio or quartet.  They could definitely play your whole reception.
