Cake allowances

Hey everyone-
I am getting ready to go to a food tasting for Capedebosq and am pretty excited. I have heard great things about their food. They have a $200 allowance for cake at the Swiss Confectionery, but I have heard mixed reviews about the taste of their cakes.

Do you guys know if these "allowances" can be transferred to a different place? Do other caterers do this? Any suggestions for negotiating this? I don't want to miss out on $200 worth of wedding stuff!
Thanks!

Hi there.  We used Capdeboscq for our wedding.  They will also let you use the cake allowance for Haydel's.  The allowance is based on the number of guests you have.  It's enough to cover a cake for that many people.  We went with Haydel's and ordered both a bride and groom's cake and just paid the difference after the allowance was applied.  We loved Capdeboscq by the way!

If you can, go with Haydel's over Swiss! Swiss tasted good but Haydel's was better for taste and look. We LOVED the cake that Haydel's made for us and all our guests had great things to say about it too! Good luck with the rest of your planning!

i just had our first appointment with haydels and i'm not very happy with what we were shown and told. we were told that for 150 people we needed a 3 tiered cake, which is fine, but the way their cakes of the size look is retarded. the bottom is huge and very unporportional looking compared to the other 2 layers. you can see them on their website. and of course to fix that it would be more than the allowance and we would have to pay the difference. :( the cake tasted good at least!
