Hey Melissa, I would suggest the Orginal Pin Stripe Brass Band. They have been in many second lines we have worked with. Hebert McCarver is the band leader, please let me know if you are interested so I can message you his number.

Do you have to get a police escort or something like that just to have a second line around the corner or down the street? I will probably use the jazz band I use for my wedding but I have read that you need a permit etc? HELP!
For a 2nd Line in the French Quarter, you have to get a permit from the Special Events Coordinator at the Police Department (it is no longer done through Don Powers, who used to handle this for a long time). The permit includes the application fee and the cost for 3 police escorts and comes to $375. I've been through the process recently and what I've been told is it doesn't matter how short or how small your 2nd line will be, that's the cost, and that's the number of escorts you have to pay for.
Also, to the OP, I don't know what's "reasonable" but so far, I haven't found any 2nd line brass bands for under $750 for a one hour minimum.
We tried to get Storyville Stompers but they were booked on our date. We decided on going with Smitty Dees and he's been pleasant to deal with.
I don't have a specific name but they are the "special event coordinator." I am in Nola now and hope to finalize tomorrow. I'll let you know what I find out.
They said you should call C/O Lt Valiente in the Special Events division at 504.658.6240. I can also send a blank application to anyone who wants one. The total fees you have to attach to the application is $375
The Storyville Jazz Band is doing my wedding- The "full" band is 6 people for second line type stuff & a little bit of other music if you wanted. If you want 1 or 2 people to play at the church service, they can do 2 for 150.00. (processional/recessional- ex. panis angelicus, trumpet tune, trumpet voluntary, wedding march, jesu joy of mans desire, etc)
If you're having your second line stick strictly to the sidewalk, do you think you still need a permit? The priest at my church said no.
Any thoughts? It would be 2 blocks from Our Lady of Guadalupe to the Wax Museum, and I would see if I could have it through the first floor of the museum.
Smitty Dee's performed a second line at my wedding. I found out a year after my wedding that my wedding guests had to pay them several hundred dollars out of pocket when they were threatening to leave before performing (bc a guest passed out in the middle of the ceremony and 911 had to be called; the band got tired of waiting). They didn't play the song that was requested to be played upon the bride and groom exiting St. Louis Cathedral. They LEFT THE BRIDE AND GROOM and proceeded down the street, leaving my husband and I to have to RUN several blocks in our wedding attire to catch up with them!!?!? Then once we caught up, they stopped dancing. They literally WALKED the rest of the way to the reception venue. ALL of their music was monotonous and not exciting. They were the part of our wedding we were most looking forward to showing out out of town guests to give them a NOLA wedding experience. They were the WORST part of our wedding! DO NOT BOOK THEM FOR ANYTHING! They were by far the worst decision I made for my wedding.
The Red Hot Brass Band are great!!! I've seen them at numerous weddings and events, and I am excited that they will be at my wedding! PM me if you want their contact information or have any additional questions. Good luck!
