Hair and Makeup HELP

I am in the process of researching people to do hair and makeup for me and my bridesmaids for the day of.  I'm not sure what's "good" in terms of price or services.  We have about 9 of us that need hair/makeup done, so we'll definitely need someone who brings help.  If you have any suggestions or guidance, I will really appreciate it.

Re: Hair and Makeup HELP

  • I think most of the companies who do it on site start at $100/person plus travel fees and gratuity.

Just Face It, Two Sisters, Get Polished and Flawless Bride are often recommended.
  • When I was looking, I found that around $100 for hair and makeup is the norm.

I decided on Just Face It, LLC. They had a ton of great reviews on here.

It varies, and there are lots of great folks that are recommended by people on this board. I'd choose a hair/ makeup artist based on pictures of the ladies who review here and share wedding photos, not just based on their opinion.... what is one person's style may not be yours.

Also, the best advice I can give you is to hire someone who will bring an assistant rather than being greedy and wanting to get the money for work on 9 people's hair or makeup. TBH, I don't think ANYONE can maintain the same quality of work for that many people, no matter how much they take their time. And you'll probably be less pressed for time that way (at 45 minutes/ person for hair... 9 people x 45 minutes = more than 6 hours for hair if I'm doing my math correctly. No one wants their hair done that far ahead of time). I think it's a mark of a good and honest hair or makeup artist if they bring a buddy to work with them. Doing 4 or 5 people's hair or makeup is still plenty of work and pay for one person, and it's much more fun to sit next to your friend and get hair done together!

Edit: I just saw that you said that you wanted someone that will bring a buddy, so disregard, haha.

I used Kelly LeBlanc for makeup and Gina Trosclair of Two Sisters for hair, btw.

  • I also used Kelly LeBlanc for makeup and can't say enough good about her. Melissa Maia did our hair. There is a flat fee of $100 (for both) if they have to come to you on location. Hair was I think 65 and bridal makeup was 80 plus 10 extra for lashes and BM makeup was I think around 50-60.
  • Jane, I totally hired Kelly because she made you look beautiful! And she did a great job for me as well:) Worth the money I paid.

  • I'm using Amanda from AHB (http://www.ahbweddingandevents.com/). I actually found her because of a fellow Knottie's suggestion on a previous post.  She is super sweet and knows her stuff.  She actually does a lot of theatrical work, so she knows how makeup will affect lighting in pictures and such.  I did a trial run with her for my engagement pictures and was very pleased.  Plus, her prices are very reasonable, cheaper than most.  We have 10 people needing hair and makeup for day-of, so she's bringing her assistant.
