Who bakes the best cakes?

I'm trying to decide between Haydel's or The Royal Cakery.  Help me out ladies.

We are going with royal cakery. I've heard mixed reviews on haydels.

Well, on Tues, I had a piece of Haydel's cake. It was a good tasting cake, but I found it to be really thick and dry tasting to a point where you almost needed a glass of water to help swallow.
I have also had Royal Cakery cakes, and find that they are more moist and VERY good. So, my vote is for Royal Cakery.

We picked Royal. The cakes were so delicious and moist and the fillings were great! You have to try the caramel cream cheese! I've never had haydel's so I can't really speak for them. I will say though that from what I have heard, royal is a bit more expensive than haydels, again I didn't price haydels, but our cake ended up costing more than we expected it to.

We went with Haydel's. I will agree that for the tasting the cake was a little dry but come wedding day, the cake was PERFECT. It was so good! Our reception hall even gave us a box with a few slices to take home and we took it on our honeymoon! Sitting on the balcony overlooking the waters of Turks and Caicos with Haydel's wedding cake... AMAZING! :)

Royal Cakery of the two, but I still believe that Flour Power is the best in the city.

We are going with Haydel's because it came with our venue.  The cake was slightly dry at the tasting and they had a pretty thin layer of filling.  However, I am confident the day of the wedding that the cake will be perfect.  Go to both places for tasting and try to decide which you enjoyed more.

Thanks!  I am sure it will.  I know Haydel's is popular for their wedding cakes :)

Haydel's!  The cake at the tasting was a little dry, but our actual cake was so moist and delicious.  Everyone went on and on about how great they were.

I'm going with Royal Cakery for my wedding in October.  I did a tasting and all the flavors were delicious!!!  Try the white chocolate cake- I liked it because it wasn't as sweet as the traditional New Orleans almond flavor.
