Local New Orleans Brides- HELP! Need advice on weather.

I am planning my destination wedding in New Orleans.  We had set the date (October 12) in a courtyard venue.  After it was set, a close family member brought to my attention a conflict and requested I consider moving it.  The only other date that works is November 9th.  The venue has said they are open to moving it.  And it makes sense for travel/planning/etc since November is not as popular as October, so vendors will be cheaper and travel will be cheaper for my guests.  But I really am concerned about weather in November.  October truly seems like the best time of year.  Looking for some locals feedback on the date change.  I am truly stressing out about it.  If I move it and it rains, I'll be crushed.  Thoughts??

  • Thank you so much for the feedback.  I've been looking at pictures too to make sure I won't be losing all the leaves and it looks pretty safe.  that would be my other concern... I'm having it in a courtyard because it's beautiful on it's own.  I won't have to pay a lot for flowers.... Don't want there to be no leaves/etc.
  • November is generally nice and the last few years we've still been running our A/C at Thanksgiving. I think it's a lot easier for people to get good flight and hotel rates in November than October.  Depending on what kind of trees you are looking at, they will most likely still have their leaves.  Are you just doing the ceremony outdoors or the ceremony and reception?
  • We got married this past November 9th and the weather was gorgeous!  Blue skies and pretty much in the mid 70's the whole weekend.  It did cool down a little bit in the evening, but everyone seemed fine in a suit (or a shawl/wrap for the gals).  We had an indoor/outdoor wedding so it all worked perfectly :)

  • I'm getting married Nov. 9, 2013 as well and I'm certainly not worrying about the weather. It usually nice and mild........Lovely wedding weather!
  • I got married Nov. 3, 2012 and the weather was actually quite warm. Highs were in the mid 80s which was a little disappointing to me as I was hoping for perfect "fall" weather. It worked out well though because we had an indoor/outdoor reception and the temp was great for being outside at that time of night. But the next day it rained and rained, and the couple days after that it was rainy and cold. So we were lucky. There is just no way to predict the weather, especially at that time of year. Chances are, it will be nice, but you should always have a weather back-up!
  • New Orleans weather is sooooo unpredictable!!!! My best advice would be to use a farmer's almanac to get an idea of what the weather will be like on your big day.
  • Thanks all for the replies. I thought I would get email notifications, and never did, so my apologies for the late thank you!  We ended up moving to November 9th and your feedback puts my mind at ease.

    Thanks all!
