The Columns Hotel Ballroom

Hello! I am wondering if anyone recently had a wedding at The Columns Hotel? I am just starting my planning, and want to know if anyone can tell me how well the ballroom accommodates guest seating. We are looking for a traditional sit down style until later in the evening when dancing begins.

Any info you have (or pics!) would be great!

Re: The Columns Hotel Ballroom

  • Just an FYI, the Columns porch and lobby get a HUGE local crowd in the evenings and the hotel will not block access to the public for weddings. This was a deal breaker for us. That said, the ballroom is very small and I don't think you could do a seated dinner with a dancefloor in there unless your wedding is tiny (< 50 guests)
  • Thanks! I love the place though and it so hard to look elsewere. I know they will not block the porch or the bar off, but I do belive they give you the ballroom, front room and brunch room.
  • I got married at The Columns in May 2010, and at that time they would block access if you rented out the entire hotel (meaning all 19 guest rooms), which is doable if you are having a lot of out-of-town guests.  When I got married there, they did not charge a venue rental fee, which is very rare, and they also did not charge for using tables, linens, serving ware, etc., like some venues do. We got married on the front porch with guests seated on the lawn, and we had our reception in the ballroom.  There were high top tables set up in the ballroom, and then there was seating for about 40 in the yellow dining room in back.  I was absolutely certain that I wanted to get married at The Columns so would have made it work regardless, but I do not think you can really manage a seated dinner there.  Although, Louisiana weddings are typically more cocktail style, anyway.
