Amanda Marks on WWL

There was just a report about Amanda Marks photography on WWL talking about the brides who have not gotten their pictures from her.  They reported that she is due to be in criminal court in New Orleans in one month for theft, I believe.  I know some of you have posted about her on here that you do not have your pictures yet so it may be beneficial to contact wwl or even the D.A.'s office.  They gave the email of the reporter working on the story if you are in this situation.  I really hope this may be helpful to some of you.  They also said that Stacey Marks, her ex-husband, is doing what he can to make things right for the brides in this situation.  It may help to contact him.  Good luck ladies!!  I hope everything works out for you.

I hope the theft charge is for stealing the memories of all the brides and grooms she has failed to give pictures to. Makes me wonder about the big picture of why anyone as seasoned as ahe was could do that. Mental/emotional breakdown....maybe, who knows but everyones pics have to be somewhere in a computer or disk dont yall think? Maybe Stacy can find them or maybe that discovery can be part of some kind of plea agreement. Someone, anyone who was stiffed should get in touch with the DA. Any attorney brides want to chime in with advice? My heart breaks for all the couples who have no photographs of their wedding day. Unimaginable.

Wow.  Just wow.  If Stacy is serious that he had no idea that Amanda was this terrible I really feel bad for him too.

Hello, I will tell everyone here what I know, since my friend got royally messed over by this girl (Amanda).  My photographer told me everyone in the local  wedding business knew something was going on and warned a few brides to stay away from her.  This is what I know.  Stacy knew more than he says in that news article, and is now trying to clean up his mess.  A lot of the weddings are lost forever.  Something about Amanda's new boyfriend stole her cameras and computers, and all the weddings were on the computer.   Amanda was only in business for 2-3 years and Stacy was referring her while they were married to cover weddings he could not, etc.. My friend first called Stacy and he was booked so he referred Amanda, and then they separated and got divorced, etc.  So, Amanda was not in business long.  I cannot repeat what else I heard about this girl Amanda, since this post will probably get removed from this board already, but the rest is also not good.  Not good at all..

My friend lost hundreds of dollars because of his referral and when she could not reach Amanda found the person I am using for my wedding.<span>  </span>She lost like 600 on Amanda.<span>  </span>She called her 10-15 times and finally Amanda called back, and my friend said she wanted her money back since she could never get in touch with her and Amanda said no.</p>

Youre an idiot and liar. How DARE you slander Stacy and his business because his psychotic EX wife decided to go off the deep end.... Stacy is a close personal friend of mine of over 10 years.  He also did my wedding last year and many of my friends weddings....

While he and Amanda were together, and they worked together she was an awesome, reliable photographer.  Whatever happened in her personal life that made her flake out on people  after they divorced is NOT Stacys fault......He is going over and beyond to help these brides because he feels bad for what SHE did to them...

Someone here claims Amanda was a exotic dancer and read what they posted about Stacy getting her in the business for easy money.  These are NOT my words.  So my friend loses $600 becomes of this? And many other brides lose their wedding pictures.  These pictures are lost, someone posted that Amanda claimed her equipment was stolen and all the pictures with them.

Looks like she just recently changed her last name on FB to Gagnard, but she says she still owns Amanda Marks Photography.  I don't know how she sleeps at night.

Yes darling, I recommended her bc I knew her and saw her work.   Back then she obviously was not scamming people.   Who cares if she was a stripper???  What did that have to do with her doing a good job as a photographer.. Obviously things have changed and Im sorry for the brides this happened to, but none of us saw this coming..... To imply that, you are just so wrong on so many levels.  The only person to be blamed here is HER, not her EX husband.

I am a bride who was duped by Amanda. I booked her back in June 2010 for my October 2011 wedding. I did my research on her and found nothing but glowing references about her. I was impressed with her photos and met with her twice before booking. We were very confident in our decision on choosing her as our wedding photographer. Fast forward 15 months... After having her do my engagement and bridal portraits, I was confident with everything. Two weeks before my wedding, I googled her name to show her website to a friend and this is when I found the thread on here, "Amanda Marks, DO NOT HIRE". My stomach dropped when I started reading about what other brides were claiming. I had to meet with her a few days later and I confronted her about this issue. She told me that the brides who were complaining (at that time there were only about 5) had special issues with their albums and it was the printers fault. She assured me this would not happen to me and I would receive my album by Christmas. Fast forward to now... There are a lot of brides who are in the process of suing her and filing charges against her with the DA. Channel 4 has done two stories on her about this issue and will continue to do follow up stories. Both stories are up on the WWL-TV webiste. The took the first story down briefly to correct something and them replayed it. Stacy Marks was not aware of what Amanda was doing once they separated. He quit referring clients to her in the beginning of 2011. He is going out of his way to help the brides get what they paid for. Another local photographer is helping the brides out by editing the photos free of charge. As for the camera issue, Amanda said that her ex-boyfriend stole her camera equipment. Not the computer, just the camera, lens, and bags. Apparently, Amanda left some of the weddings she photographed on the memory cards and left the cards in the bags. For what ever reason, she never transferred the photos to her computer. I don't fully trust the idea that her boyfriend stole everything. I think she pawned it off or sold it for money. Anyways, she is working at Visions again and living in a hotel. She started making too much money and not being responsible. Amanda was buying expensive clothes, accessories, and driving a Benz before it was re-poed. Her fast life finally caught up to her. Now, she is dealing strictly in cash, solely to keep from paying should she actually answer a demand letter for a lawsuit. She is a peice of trash. One last thing, a motion to set trial date was set for March 23rd. I can't wait for the trial because I will be attending, if possible. The DA is gathering a really strong case against her. I hope she pays (jail time) for what she has done to so many. Please do not let this story put a bad taste in your mouth about the local wedding photographers. Luckily, they are not all like Amanda.

I just read over this and I was the one who FutureMrsPoche commented on regarding Stacey and Amanda.  I will say that as of now, I will hopefully be pursuing this lawsuit against her because she stole 600 dollars from me without doing a damn thing.  She is a disgusting person and should have never been deemed a photographer.  I am so sorry to everyone who ever had to deal with her and I thank god I cancelled her and she never did my wedding.
