I hve read so much about photographers, and I don't know what to do!  I fell in love with one, but they are 5500, and that it beyond my budget.  Any recs on photographers who do documentary style?
Thanks in advance!

Matt Foster is wonderful! I don't know if you could call his style documentary, but feel free to check out my pics:

Matt Foster just photographed our wedding December 19th.  I would definitely call his style documentary.  Other than posed photos you request, he just captures the day as it unfolds.  He is very affordable and professional.  And, he is just great to have around on your wedding day because he is so laid back.  If you want to look at our photos, go to Jennifer and Brandon under recent events (password is Young).  Good luck.  Luckily, there are so many great photographers in this city that you really can't go wrong!

Hi! I am using Bluebird Ceremonies. The photographer's name is Rush, and he's a really cool guy and an amazing photojournalist. His rates are very reasonable. You do have to note that he doesn't provide any prints or online galleries, but if a low price is more important to you, you can get awesome photography and then make the prints yourself. He gives you all the rights to the photos, so if you really want an online gallery you can just upload the photos yourself to a photo sharing site. He is charging me $950 for 6 hours of photography (keep in mind my wedding is smaller so I was able to get a lower rate. But he was willing to negotiate with me, which is the imporant part!)

    Hope this helps!

I suggest Michael Caswell.  His rates are about the same as Matt Foster, if not a little cheaper.  Matt and him also have similar styles. He offers several different options for the album which I liked.  I haven't done my bridal portraits yet, but he has been very accomodating and responsive thus far.  You can check out his website at www.michaelcaswell.com

I second Michael Caswell.  He does photojournalist style and did our wedding in November.  There are so many great photographers in the area, but he was the only one who was willing to bargain with me.  His packages start at $1900, but we paid him approx. $1400.  We have great photos, if I do say so myself. We did not get a package with engagement photos, bridals or an album and he instead sold me the rights to the images.  Sent me 2 CD's within two weeks.  I made my own prints and flush mount album with Mpix.com that is great.  Check out his blog...also look into Zoeica images...his packages start at around $2200 and will give you a CD also.

I used Sandra O'Claire for my New Year's Day wedding a few weeks ago. She was wonderful and affordable. We added a second photographer and Sam was great too. The website is being updated now but there is a link to the blog with a ton of pictures. You should email her for prices.

I used Elizabeth Ray for my engagement photographs.  She was fantastic.  I got them back when she said I would, and I loved working with her.  I am waiting on the photo shoot to be blogged.  We had such a ball, and she was so receptive to our ideas.  If we were having our wedding in New Orleans, I would definitely use her for my wedding as well.
