wedding/reception venues five months out?

HALP!

I need a wedding/reception venue for mid May. FH and I were planning on the Southern Yacht Club but for various reasons, we're not getting married there.

We've already booked our flight to NOLA (we live in Chicago, although I'm a NOLA native) and made honeymoon plans (Disney!), so we'd rather not change the date.

Any ideas? I'm flying down next month but will have to do most looking online.

    Have you tried Rosie's Jazz Hall?  We just had my firm x-mas party there for approx 80-100 ppl and it was fantastic!  Great atmosphere, food and service and I know a lot of the brides on here have also raved about it for a wedding, just a precious place.

    what day of the week?
    some places will have more availability if you are doing it on a thursday or sunday rather than a friday or saturday... don't know how flexible you are since you've already bought tickets...

    when i started looking i tried:
    -southern oaks plantation
    -champagne palace
    -the rose garden
    -opera guild home (absolutely beautiful and a perfect fit for a part your size)
    -degas house
    -federal ballroom
    -elms mansion

    on another note... you are honeymooning in disney... we are looking at doing the same thing... any tips for me?

    oh - and i agree about rosie's jazz hall...

    i've been to several weddings there - and enjoyed all of them.Laughing
